Here's pics of the total damage. Not much to fix here, note the piston teeth tearing away. On a cheap piston from two years ago, the last one or two teeth would have torn off, taking a portion of the piston skirt. Here, we just have the tips of the gears coming apart. Much better composites in use. Then the bushing on the gear. Considering the abject ABUSE I gave this poor, feckless gearbox, this is amazing. You can see how much wear there is by the deflection caused when I pinch one side of the assembly. Again, a part from 24 months ago would have welded to the shaft when it stopped, or had a gigantic hole in the middle. If you think about it, I didn't complete my test, as the gun WAS still "operating" at the stop. I imagine some noobs would continue to run the gun, because the change in sound could have been missed as the parts wore over months instead of moments. If the gun was returned to use in this condition, it would function until the last few teeth wore off the piston. The gear appears to be pitted, but that's piston teeth bits stuck to it. |

I was about to get one of the guarder reinforced GB sets. Were you running it at excessive power levels or anything of that nature?

It was only shooting around 380fps and was installed by a gun doc. I think it was Illusion that told me he has always had trouble with Guarder GB's. I have Guarder internals and love them so I hope it was just a bad box.
