Upgrading an TM AK-47

I am think of upgrading the internal part of my AK and I am not very familiar with the insides of an AEG. I would just like some hints on what type of gears i should buy (helical, flat. torque up, high speed, ratio) piston, cylinder, and motor). The rest of the internal part I understand. Plus i have a firend whos going to help me take the AEG apart and put it back together.
Thanks

Depends what you want to upgrade it for... velocity increase? rate of fire?

Depends what you want to upgrade it for... range/accuracy, rate of fire, or velocity. Keep in mind your velocity has a very limited effect on your range.

I am trying to increase the velocity rate of fire is already nice on the AK and like Thunder said velocity has a limited effect on range

Get a set of metal bushings with shims, spring (Guarder SP100 or 110) and a metal spring guide. Other TM internals are pretty good so you shouldn't have any problems. Higher capacity battery is also a good idea, something over 3000Mah will do. You might also want to get a tightbore, but that's optional. I stopped putting tightbores in my guns since it doesn't improve accuracy that much.

TM gearboxes don't handle higher velocities very well, you may want to upgrade to a G&P or hurricane gearbox shell. Best thing you can do for velocity is spring, bushings, shims, and systema bearing spring guide. And like 666 says, 3000mah large battery.

IMO the stock V3 gearbox shell should be just fine for within 400fps, no problem. The V2 might need some special considerations (silent piston head set for example).

My G&G RK-104 AEG is chrony at 375/380 fps with upgraded tightbore, metal gearbox, metal gears/shims installed.

In the stock AK, the gears are fine. You just need metal bushings, a milder spring than you'd imagine, and a better spring guide than the original.
If you really want to spend extra cash you can buy a tightbore barrel and a better piston assembly.

It all depends on what you really want; dependability or velocity. A dependable gun that already fires between 350 and 400 fps with a mild upgrade makes sense to me. The rest does not.

You don't need new gears. I have a 7 year old TM AK that is still running stock TM gears and a Systema aluminum piston pushing a PDI 150% spring at 380 fps. The gun has over 60,000 rounds on it and has never been opened since the initial install.

As stated before - steel bushings (NOT bearing bushings - solid steel), an upgraded spring, and a metal spring guide with bearing is all you need. If you want tighter groupings at long range, get a tightbore barrel. If you want a better ROF, get a ICS Turbo 3000 short-rotor motor. I'd avoid the Systema Turbo/Magnum motors - yes, they are fast/powerful, but hideously inefficient and will drain your battery VERY quickly.
