g36 to xm8 conversion?

would you have to change the gas block/barrel assembly? i bought a ca front barrel assembly thinking it would fit in my xm8, but theres these pins on the side that make it too wide (can be modded) but it seems that the outer barrel wouldn't even make it out of the body. around 6" too short..

OICW, failed, its a 30mm cannon with timed explosive shells humping something thats halfway between a G41 and G36 with a ridiculous optical sighting system. Made of polymers blah blah blah doesnt matter how light your rifle is if its the size of 6 pound field gun lol

It's an XM29 OICW like Mr. Cactus has said. Your army has been testing it for years now, but it's all a pipe-dream. The gun is too big, too complex and too expensive for the grunt in the field to use.

There likely won't be a replacement for the M16 or M4 anywhere in the near future. Not even the 416 will likely enter mainstream service. Bureaucracy, lowest bidder, favoritism, etc.

Quick question. Ronan, what the hell does that OICW have to do with this post?

the XM8 is the retarded semi aborted foetus of the OICW kinetic energy component (the part that shots bullets)

Actually I do believe its a 20mm grenade launcher that had programmable fuses that was scraped because the fuses in the grenades were sensitive to EMP, one lighting strike close by and the whole squad would disappear.
