My new USP 45
well I just got a new KSC USP 45 and it has the plastic slide, how bad would it be to run propane in it, and also where might I be able to find a metal slide and barrel. also if I was to get the metal slide, would I need to do anything else to the gun. thanks for the help.

the KSC USP.45 plastic slide is pretty durable. it will probably wear out in a couple thousand rounds.

Yup, mine lasted for about a year, broke the slide and some internals, sold it for cheap. I loved it, going to buy a FMU one eventually.

You can probably run it on propane for a while before it breaks. Just be careful about the above average heat that we're getting in Alberta right now. I've broken a KSC Glock flow restrictor and a TM Glock slide in the last two weeks because the pressure inside the mag got to be too much.
Pertaining to metal slide upgrades, you can go ahead and do it but you "might" need to change the hammer and recoil spring as well. The metal slides can be a bit finicky and can require lots of filing down of the metals to make them work properly. It's probably a good idea to use duster until it starts to cool down to the 23 degree range again. After that, I'd personally start using the propane. That's just my opinion though. |

Buy an enhanced recoil spring for it, that will absorb some of the kick propane gives and will make your USP last a lot longer. I've always run propane in my KSC GBBs and never had anything break.

see, i found it the other way stalker, i ran regular recoild for quite some time on propand/ metal, only thing i found is sometimes the slide wouldnt seat forward all the way. wasnt enough to cause a problem, maybe a few mm's, but it bothered me so i got the upgraded recoil. about 1 week (5 mags) later, i seared spring tab off inside the gas chamber.
could be cooincidence though from wear with the stock spring though. |
