TM 1911 Sights - Hard to use.
Don't know if this thread belongs here, but has anyone else had any trouble using the sights on the TM 1911? I've upgraded the frame to a Guarder metal kit and unfortunately, the front sight isn't removeable and it was such a pain to get the rear sight in that I doubt that getting a real rear sight would even fit, let alone improve the sighting.
Has anyone done any mods to pick up the front sight faster other than painting the front sight white? Has anyone found a 1911 metal slide with a removeable/replaceable front sight? Otherwise, this GBB rocks! THanks, Jerold |

well, you can widen the sight notch with a file
that will allow more light on the sides of the front sight and aid in quicker target acquisition unfortunately, the TM 1911 is of an earlier model which doesnt benefit from the improvements that are available to more modern 1911 platforms |

Thanks. That sounds like a decent idea. Kinda wierd that TM would replicate a gun that has this much history and choose one of the earliest versions to make into a GBB.
BTW, does anyone know which era of the 1911 that KSC has replicated? |

for all intents and purposes, KSC gun is the same as the TM gun externally, with the added bonuses such as seam lines and shiny plstic
its crappier internally IIRC, KSC ver is the civi and TM is the MIL model Japanese people have the weirdest taste in guns sometimes.... and TM has a MEU model of the 1911 in their next lineup |

I couldn't find anything on the TM MEU release on the web, but I saw a photo of the MGC one at Redwolf. Maybe when that TM MEU one comes out, they'll make a metal slide/barrel upgrade that will fit onto the TM 1911 that I have.

it was announced via resin mockup in one of the hobby shows in japan
shizuoka I think it was.. well, really, all you need for MEU slide is something that has dovetailed front and rears the rest really takes care of itself with parts that are already available I believe tanio koba makes such slides, but only in HW afaik, no metal dovetailed sights for the 1911 |
