Easily identifying a Tanaka restricted/non-restricted nozzle and PCS/non-PCS

Hi all,

As the subject line says, does anyone have a quick and easy way of identifying between the different versions of the Tanaka rifles out there? Trying to get my hands on one and would like to know what I should look for as an easy 2 minute check on them.

Thanks!

Pop the bolt out.

Look at the bottom.

You'll notice the gas intake port - it's surrounded by a round rubber.

About 1 cm to the rear of it, if you see a window, with a set screw and an adjustable bolt, then you have the PCS bolt.

If you see nothing there, then you do not have a PCS bolt.

As far as I know, only PCS bolts have unrestricted nozzles.

This isn't even a 2 minute check. This is literally a 2 second check. The bolt release button is located in the trigger well... just in front of the trigger. Release the bolt, pull it to it's rearward location, press the release button (pushing upwards in to the body) and the bolt will be released free.

on my K98 it was as easy as looking into the brass nozzle. You will notice a stepped down area as if they didnt drill the larger diameter all the way through. (this is in fact what they did). If you want unrestriced - drill it out! Mine (with a slightly longer and slightly more open area -custom) last shot at 620 with redgas and .2's

Mine is a full bore nozzle and it's stepped from the outside.

I actually have an aftermarket King Arms bore-up nozzle for replacement. I was going to put it in to mine to see if there's any sort of performance gain, but I can't seem to figure out how to get the stock nozzle out. I was told to just "yank" it out, but I don't want to risk damaging it.

is yours a K98? I dont know anything concrete about the others - but my K98 IIRC was just press fit in. Take some sweet pliers smooth jaws and pull

Ah, no, it's not. It's an M700 series A.I.C.S.
