Hurricane Piston Head
Hello, I was just wondering if Hurricane's piston heads are aluminum or polycarbonate because I heard aluminum is bad.

I use an aluminium piston and piston head, and I've had no problems except that my gun now shoots 440fps and club rules states only 400fps.

We'll, I want my gun to last as long as possible and I think polucarbonate lasts longer and puts less stress on your gearbox

Aluminium is stronger then plastic. I'm not worried about my gear box, its got re-enforced everything, the box itself is almost one solid block of metal with just the spots for the gears hollowed out. The polycarbonite piston I had in it was showing signs of wear after only 1500 rds, my aluminum one has got double that and no signs of wear.

He's talking about polycarb piston heads. You can usually tell whether they're polycarb or aluminium by simplying looking at the picture. There's IMO no mechanical reason to use an aluminum piston head. All it does is make a louder bang, not worth the extra strain on my gearbox for me.

So if I had a stock CA36C, and I'm going to upgrade, I should get a aluminum piston, and polycarbonate piston head? Unless CA's gears are also aluminum I should go with a polycarbonate piston as well, right?

I'd stick with polycarb piston and piston head. Pistons are cheap, gears aren't. I'd rather have all the wear be on the cheap item rather than the expensive ones. Just stay away from Area 1000 pistons, they seems on the brittle side.
I don't think there are aluminum gears in any AEGs.

Ok, so I'll stick with the Hurricane piston head because I think it's polycarb. But on the piston, I will be getting a Guarder one with the first tooth at metal.
