once you have the battery on the cranestock retracing is limited. I have a G&P cranestock and now I only have three position that is available from fully retracted. Battery and the connector is getting in the way inside the buffer tube which is normal.

well yeah, i underatand its limited to some extent, i can feel the battery pushing agaist the mounting screw in the buffer tube, but with the smaller part of the battery (the shortest of the three) I have can collapse the stock even more, however, no the plug is in the buffer tube, and the plug to the mechbox is on the outside!, not only that, but the batteries ( except for the one in the buffer tube), are exposed, am i missing a cover? I think its a star crane stock, im not positive, and the batteries are A cell. Thanks for the help!

if you didn't have to cut the receiver's buffer tube mount, then it's not a G&P crane stock. By cutting it, it allows the extra room in the buffer tube to fit a 9.6v pack in there and allow complete collapsibility.
Or 10.8v without complete collapsibility.

You will have to cut the reciever to allow the wiring from the mechbox to be re-routed thru the buffer tube.

If the two side tubes of the stock are hollow and exposed, you are most certainly missing two covers.

i am missing the covers then. Every stock looks the same, do you think i could find any to replace them? I have no idea what they look like, i know there threaded, but there looks like theres nothing like that, also, i dont think its possible to install the wire through the buffer tube, as the mounting screw is in the way.

You will need a modified buffer tube to pass the wire through. I believe STAR makes one if you don't have the tools / know-how to modify your own tube.

Installing a Deans connector helps. The whole thing (both sides) are about half the size of the white large connectors.

I installed a Star Cran stock a few weeks back, with the 9.6V battery that was made for it, I had to slice off about 1/8" off the end of the supplied buffer tube, and had to slice off the battery grabbing piece on the inside of the buttstock. Also cut one wire and respliced it, took 2 " off it. Was able to fully retract and extand the stock without any problems. Took me a while to figure these things out on this one, even after having installed 4 previous Crane stocks of various makes (G&P, earlier Star variant, etc.)
