Star mag misfeed
Well i recently purchased some star mags for my new GG R5. The rifle works great by the way, made sure it was a version 3. The problem i get is when i use star mags with the gun, they really really misfeed 3/4 of the time. Now i did notice that they were slightly thinner then the g&g mag so when it was in, it would wiggle around. I read somewhere that the star mags have to be pushed in all the way for them to work properly could that be the problem? If so do i fix this problem by placing tap around the top of my star mags? thanks for your input!

Try cleaning out your mags. I purchased a few MAG G36 mid-caps and they would misfeed 25% of the time. So I decided to lube up the mag with silicone oil. I placed 2 drops onto the mag follower and filled the mag half way with BBs.
After the lubing, the mag would misfeed 75% of the time. Based on this, I knew that silicone oil in mags is a bad idea. To solve the problem, I removed the spring and cleaned it with soap. Then I dried out the spring with a hair dryer. I also rinsed out the mag's internals with soapy water. When everything was dried, I reassembled the mag. With the mag bone dry and clean, it misfeeds 0% of the time. |

My experience has been the opposite. I have a Star 160-round AK74 midcap that didn't like feeding properly in my TM AK47. During an outdoor game I put one drop of 10 wt. silicone oil onto the follower and loaded it fully. After that it became more reliable than my TM mags! It went from my last pouch as a backup mag to being in the gun for first contact and worked great ever since.
One thing that I think can be agreed on though, is that Star mags are indeed finnicky. |

Ill try to clean them out but these things are BRAND new lol. I thought star mags had a reputation of the least amount of misfeeds. Somehow i dont beleive that the mag isnt pushing the bb's out properly since i pulled back the little tab that stops them from coming out they all blasted out lol Im leaning more towards the fitment issues, since i did a search in this section and came out with one thread on the misfeed due to incorrectly being inserted all the way into the magwell. So I will take your advices into notice and will also try to tape the top part of the mag and will let you kno what happens, in the mean time if anyone else has other opinions please let us know

STAR Mags R Good
I have had a good experience with adding 1 TINY drop on the follower. I've never had feeding issues since. And just to clarify, I mean one tiny drop..like...once a year.
I think it has to be one or the other. Either no lube and no dirt, or a little lube and some dirt tollerance. I agree it's probably not seating correctly. I love the start mags simply because they are relatively cheap, but also because they are light and have less chance of bending/breaking when I just drop a mags and it happens to land on a rock or on a concrete floor.

Hmmm... If it wobbles a lot, try a pice of gaffer tape at the bottom rear part of the magwell. Just in front of the trigger guard.
Let me know if I`m not clear enough... I will try and help the best I can. Cheers
