Nah, slings are awesome except when you dont' need one and find they get in the way. Transitioning to a sidearm (or even a sniper rifle like I do) a sling is a needed peice of gear. At a minimum for me, I carry my KSC Glock 19, my upgraded MP5 and my CA M24. Slings are generally regarded as holsters for long guns. I know guys that get along fine without a sling, it all really depends on your play style and what you require.

Blue Force Gear slings.

One sling will do 1, 2 and 3 point. They are ambidextrous and have adaptors that will fit any weapon out there.

These 3 point slings are the best from a very good
company:

They might be alittle expensive but they are worth it in the long run.

You can make a nice sling yourself very easily for $5 or so. Just buy the webbing and buckles at a hiking/mountain climbing store like Mountain Equipment Coop.
