It's like your friend is trying to construct an argument for the first time in his life.
His arguments are flawed since they are built on the premise that blind firing is bad because it is
blind firing. This is not the case. Blind Firing is banned because it has a high degree of risk associated with the behavior that would have otherwise resulted in no injury or a far less severe injury.
