Fitting an AK suppressor
Hey gang,
Got my hands on a SWEEEEEEEEET Vanaras PBS-1 suppressor that looks amazing, but it's -14mm threading and I want to mount it on a +24mm thread. Does anybody have any advice on changing threading on suppressors? I know I'll probably need a tap, but I can't seem to find a definitive answer on the type of tap to use for +24mm threading. Anyone know? |

Edit:
Think you'll need some kind of an adapter, like this: http://shop.ehobbyasia.com/hephaestu...l#.VVt7hk3Qcno |

Drill it out then tap it. You want a 24mm cw tap, the tap set should recommended size to pre-drill. If you have access to a drill press use that; you don't want it to be crooked. If it's your first time do a test run on something else. Make sure it's the same threading, coarse or fine.

either rethread the barrel or can. Depends really on what you want to keep original.
you will also need to know the "pitch" as there are two types of 24mm (at least) Here is a basic chart for taps (to thread a hole) https://www.carbidedepot.com/formulas-tap-metric.htm for informational purpose

Im working on something similar for my ak 104. Although probably more complicated, im cutting the 24mm threads off the sight block which will expose the 15mm diameter outer barrel underneath. At this point i'll take an adjustable 14mm die open it up and it will fit over the 15mm and i'll cut the threads over and over until i reach a good 14mm size.

I should point out my lct is newer and doesnt have 14mm underneath the 24mm threads, not like the older lct's. You didnt mention the brand but i assume this is a similar case.

I was actually thinking of using a CYMA CM.040D which I don't think has the outer barrel feeding all the way through the sight. I might have to do something similar to you and chop off the 24mm threading then move it back to get the inner barrel to protrude and cut new 14mm threads.
