Ares M110 - standard Ares M4 gearbox?
Can anyone confirm whether the Ares M110 will take a standard Ares M4 Gearbox, like the one in the link below?:
http://shop.ehobbyasia.com/ares-m4-m...l#.VQhu9ELVr9E My Google-fu has told me that the box in the M110 is a standard V2 (thus eliminating the need for an SR-25 length nozzle - this is also why the mags are proprietary), but that there are fitment issues with standard V2 boxes... so I figured I'd play it safe and stick with an Ares one. Ares customer service is being painfully slow with their replies, so I'm hoping someone else out there can help out. Cheers. Last edited by dizzale21; March 17th, 2015 at 15:18.. |

Yea, the gearbox is a standard V2 gearbox shape, so a normal gearbox should fit, but this is airsoft, so it might need some work.

Have you thought about a P*?
It's real close to a common V2 but I can't say for sure how the fit is. When I started my Ares quest (SR25) the easiest fix wast to buy a spare gun, run it, and wait on the parts (tappet plate and hopup). Then 2 years later sell the B rifle. These are the guys that got the parts in stock eventually. http://www.uncompany.com/ I also need an upper receiver that a couple years straight from Ares and when it arrived it was cracked; they don't QC check stuff till after the gun if fully assembled. So that was my first and last go around with Ares. Even if they made something so amazing and desirable that was at the top of my wish list I can't see myself buying anything from them again.

I would assume it would not quite fit up as its the 7.62 format and the hopup would not mesh up and still feed propperly. Ahh the SR25 fun, I built mine from the A&K body and the L85 parts for the most part worked perfect and the ones that didn't the CA advanced SR25 parts did. R hoped and used a PSG1 barrel 6.03 barrel and it was a great gun till I sold it and bought a new PTW.

Thanks for your replies, gents.
Update from ARES responding to a Facebook message: a standard ARES M4 gearbox will work - there is no M110 specific gearbox. Other brands of V2 boxes will work with some fitment modifications required, but I'm going to play it safe and just go with the ARES box. |
