HELP! Type 96 piston question.
I need to know if this is a 7mm diamtre piston or a 9mm.

9mm. 99% of all aftermarket pistons are 9mm. (I used this one, my favorite along with a LayLax soft head (or Modify head). Don't forget you need to buy a head separately too, it does not come with one. Any APS-2 or Type 96 head for 3-piece pistons work). http://www.airsoftparts.ca/store2/in...oducts_id=1814
You can use a 7mm spring in a 9mm piston. It's usually the upgraded spring guide that is either 7 or 9, and you need to pick the right one according to you spring. LayLax one comes with both. No bearing, but there is no reason to have one in a bolt-action, the piston is not in guide rails like AEGs and can rotate at will.
