Tokyo Marui Glock 17 to 18C Conversion, and other Glock questions.

Hey guys! I have a couple of quick questions.
First one is, how can I convert a Glock 17 to a Glock 18C?
I know that the blowback units are different and the 18C needs the selector switch, but what other internals do I need to change? I don't believe there are any differences in the lowers but if thats not true I'd appreciate someone telling me haha.

Ok. Reason I'm asking this is because I think I might go with a guarder slide that is only available in the G18C flavor. I swore to not go back to 18C because of some very small reasons but this specific slide i want was very convincing and quick to change all that.

So next question. The slide I want comes in both steel and aluminum. I really want the steel slide and it does come with a 200% recoil spring. I already have a Guarder 150% hammer spring.

If I go with the steel one, what else besides the lightweight blowback unit, hammer and recoil spring will I have to change? I'll be getting a Guarder frame to replace the ABS one so no worries there either.

Thanks in advance

The lower rear hammer assemblies are different.

Never used a steel slide but I'd assume it would be hard to make it gas efficient.

The upper is completely different
The lower is also completely different.

So in other words no, you can't. Also don't use a steel slide. Way too heavy for airsoft use.

Yeah I called up my gun doc he said the same thing. Thanks for the advice.
I'll get the aluminum version for gaming, maybe build another gun with the steel slide as a collectible.

Hey,
you can also just build several slide sets.

I've heard many people decry the use of steel slides.
as you saw they have a certain something to them.
though if my G17aluminum slide set worked you would have noticed a considerable increase in the ROF

.. if you were impressed with the solid recoil feel of the steel slide you would have been surprised with the solid snappy and peppy nature of the aluminum one.

steel slides definitely require a good understanding of the pistol mechanics and spare parts on hand
( I had 8 recoil springs plus various short stroke bits, and a bunch of other stuff, imagine if I bought 1 spring at a time $ooooeeee$)

..and are much less likely to work well with a quick swap out

the tolerances are unforgiving and I needed to do a bit of wondering, measuring and modifying parts around the G17steel slide..and not mess up things for the other slide
I find this fun...gun docs charge $$ for this fun

I get 2 mags easy with both steel slide pistols we tried
I am happy with that gas consumption

other than lower ROF and the $300 usd cost of ra tech steel slides and not enough guntechability I don't see a problem using steel slides
