Gear Compatibility

I need to replace a buddies King Arms V2 M4 Sector Gear and i have one laying around but just not sure if it came out of a CYMA AK or M4 that i have (both CYMA)

does anybody know if these V2 and V3 gears from CYMA are the same for both?

what is the difference between a v2 sector and v3? How could i tell?

v2 and v3 use the exact same gearsets
The only thing that changes the dimensions of V2/V3 gears are the torque ratios.
Basically, if the gear meshes with the spur gear, it will work.

V2 and V3 gears are the same. CYMA stock gears are 18:1, as long as you're putting in a stock or 18:1 sector gear you will be fine.

Thanks guys.. i figured as much. What's funny is that i've swapped gears in and out of gearboxes for years now and im only now asking!!

one interesting thing you said though in regards to the same ratio gears matching.. how bad would you screw up a gearbox if i stuck a 18:1 bevel in a set with 13:1 Spur/Sector? (I've actually done this and i can see no real difference in the performace.. durability maybe.. but not 'immediate' performance issues

Depends where they make the ratio, either between the spur and sector or spur and bevel.

The diameters and potentially the # of teeth on the gear would be different. Anyway, they'd be different enough they either wouldn't make contact, wouldn't be able to install them, or they'd jam or strip pretty quick.

All makes of 13:1 gears I know of use standard bevel gears. The only company off the top of my head that uses different bevel gears is Siegetek. Generally if it has 10 or sometimes 9 teeth, it is a standard bevel. Siegetek 10:1 has a 14 tooth bevel.
