APS UAR Overhaul help.

Need some guidance. The uar is a bull pup rifle. In order to achieve this it uses a convoluted system of crappy metal linkages, that has never worked properly, to have the trigger/fire select up front. It barely works for the trigger and especially not for the fire select.

My question requires me to explain my rudimentary knowledge of electronic trigger units. As far as I'm aware it uses a microswitch for the trigger which then sends a signal to the motor to turn on. Would I be able to (after building or buying a gearbox with an electronic trigger) take the trigger unit out of the gearbox and move it up front to the existing trigger location? Obviously run wires from the etu to the motor along the inside of the body. If it is possible it would fix most of the issues I have with the gun.

Thanks in advance.

As a bonus question, any good to better quality drop-in g2 gearboxes with an electronic trigger unit?

In a regular old gearbox, the switch directly closes the circuit to the motor, and is mechanically disconnected by the cutoff lever after one cycle.
With an electronic control, a microswitch controls a mosfet which closes the circuit to the motor. The cycle is generally stopped by a sensor that either monitors the cutoff lobe on the sector gear, or a switch that gets actuated by the cutoff lever.
The selector switch position is also monitored by switches or sensors.

So if you don't mind desoldering stuff from a board, or soldering wires onto a board, then you could absolutely move a switch and a selector anywhere in a gun from an electronic control unit.

That's what I thought. Perfect. Thank you.

Any recommendations for either an etu or a gearbox with one I can modify? I've heard on things about the g&g mosfet and etu.

Idk about quality, but here is one setup for the apps uar:

Baring that, if it was mine, I’d hack apart a g&g etu to fit then if/when it fails, swap in a prerun (sp?) etu upgrade fet.

But I also have dark thoughts of hacking up a btc chimera to fit in my ares stoner lmg...
