Tm mk23 socom hop up issue

Hey, I have an older TM mk23 socom that seems to have lost its hop effect. I've tried replacing the hop up rubber and when I put the hop up on the first couple of shots are good then it seems to lose its pressure. I thought maybe its because the screws on the hop up unit are stripped but it doesn't seem like it to me. Any ideas of what this could be? Or things to try to fix it?

Your guess is most likely right. As the bb rams into the hopup arm it's likely rotating the wheel. Adjust the hop and mark the wheel and another point in front of the wheel as a reference.

thx bean, but I know the wheel is getting rotated back as i have payed attention to that. The only thing i can think of is maybe put some loctite on the screws or thread tape and see if they'll hold, otherwise I guess i'm looking at some slightly bigger screws.

Depending on how stripped the screw is loctite or teflon tape will work.

Have you tried bending the spring that applies tension on the hopup?

yeah tried that and it seemed to work for a few more shots but just went back to not working after about 5-7 bbs.

ILLusion Kinetics now has aftermarket reinforced steel hop up arms that resist the bending that the OEM Tokyo Marui part suffers.

From what I recall, the arm is the same in the Hi-Capa/1911, as the mk23. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. I also have reinforced brass dials as well, which resist loosening (turning) over use. I'm not sure if these will fit the mk23. It's been a while since I last worked on one. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Steel hop up arms for $6.
Brass hop up dial + o-ring to keep it in place for $6.

I'll take one of the steel hop up arms tho it'll have to be modded to work with the mk23 but the dial is a fair bit smaller in the hi capa so I think it wouldn't turn of enough even if modded to fit. I'll pm you about the hop up arm

What mods are needed to fit the arm to the mk23? I was under the impression that all Marui GBB's used the same arm. I've already confirmed it in the 226, Hi-Capa series, and 1911 series. I also have a PX4 here that I can check against.

the socom arm is thinner and sits in a grove in the hop up unit so it won't fit unless its made thinner.

Hey Jonathan,

Just wanted to follow up on this and see if you were able to compare the hop up adjustment dial I'd sent you against the mk23 you have... and same for the adjustment arm.

A couple of other guys have asked and are looking for clarity on this.

Thanks,
Brian

Hey Brian, sorry I am not on here very often.

I can look for parts to see if I can take some pictures to compare later but for now, neither part fit. I believe the mk23 adjustment wheel was a fair bit bigger and the adjustment arms were actually different shapes a little bit. Might be able to hack the hi capa arm with a dremmel to make it work, I never got that far before I got too busy to try. How ever I am going to revisit this issue as I want my mk23 back!!!
