Oh we do hate you, just never felt like wasting the time to give you a user title :P

There are no gears made in that ratio. Check post #8 in this http://www.airsoftcanada.com/showthread.php?t=132660
Do the math and then you can tell us the ratio of these oddly labled gears. Airseal and inner barrel length will make a difference in the fps across different setups with the same spring due to of course airleaks and also cylender to barrel matchin in volume. Bigger cylender shorter barrel equals wated air and lowwer fps. An example is a VSR 10 bolt action is optimized for a 500mm inner barrel. The gspec comes with a 330mm the same build with only the inner barrel shorter looses 100fps (500fps on the 500mm and 400ish on the 330) By drilling a hole in the cylender to shorten it (read match the volume to the shorter barrel) the fps can be corrected to 500fps on the 330mm inner barrel with the same spring and and piston and hol up

M120 is supposed to be 400fps actually, though it's anywhere from 390 to 430
M110 is supposed to be 360, but is often 380ish and M100 anywhere from 330-360 Every brand is different, depending how they test their springs I guess. Ehobby rates every spring about 100fps low and gives them a huge fps range, they must test them with a STAR M4 or something lol |

The rating of a spring is just a rating of a spring... A lot of things can happen in your cylinder (ports? lack of seal?), along your piston rails (slowing down the piston with friction?), behind your cylinder head (sorbo stealing volume?), along your nozzle (crap seal?), in your hop chamber (crap seal?), and in your barrel (too short?)... that can reduce your output velocity.

like, they CALL it a chrysler 300M, but it sure as hell doesn't have 300hp

I don't know about you but all my gearboxes have a hemi

they've never made a 300M with a hemi, you're thinking of the 300 which is a completely different car entirely! lol

i have a decent understanding of all the elements that go into creating FPS..
What im saying is that everything else seems to be buttoned up pretty tight.. all my compression parts are pretty air tight... I am pretty sure that a stronger spring will just throw me too far over the 400FPS limit. I probably won't be upgrading the spring strength in this particular set up... it's not the spring that will provide the source of the torque need..Nobody seems to be responding to the question of this blowback/recoil engine. Does anybody have experience with these? This has to add to the need for a higher torque set up.. i'm less concerned about the spring strength being too weak than i am about that heavy weight sitting on top of the gearbox and being pulled back by the motor and piston/gears. This is the whole reason why i replaced the stock motor with the SHS motor. the way im thinking is that im not just running a high torque set up on a little M120 spring.. i'm running it on an M120 spring with a beast of a counter weight to pull with it... that has got to count for something and make the high torque gears/motor make sense? I'll wrap up the actual work this weekend and know how it's going to work.. all airsoft theory right now i guess im just concerned that if right off the bat everybody thinks this is destined to fail.. then i'd rather save the time/effort and money and change my plan of attack Last edited by Bar1975; April 24th, 2013 at 22:31.. |

Well.. i just finished putting it all back together and holy crap it's amazing now. It's super snappy and crisp with the recoil and blow back. It seems to handle the recoil weight like butter now.. it was a little sluggish before the torque gears..
i don't know how reliable this set up is or how long it's going to last but it's a much better gun right now then before. Full auto is 20-21 RPS with the 11.1.. didn't really seem to affect the ROF too much. The FPS is still sitting a little over 400FPS its just perfect right now.. very pleased |

1100-1200rpm is a pretty normal range to be in these days

I agree but it was mentioned that my ROF would seriously decrease because of a high torque motor and high torque gears.. it didn't decrease at all and perhaps even slightly increased..

it's the motor that's doing it all then
the gears no matter what are lowering ROF, the motor just has a higher top speed than your last one motors are rated like springs, they cover a range but there's no real system that anyone follows |

well i polished the inside of the gearbox this time as well.. better shim job.. lots of factors going into an un-affected ROF i guess..
either way.. im happy to be done with this upgrade... everything seems to have worked for now.. until it breaks again.. death.. taxes.. broken airfsoft guns.. all garentees in life at some point Thanks for all the great advice everybody.... Last edited by Bar1975; April 25th, 2013 at 22:14.. |
