Oh we do hate you, just never felt like wasting the time to give you a user title :P

If you tell us what brand or even what version gearbox is in the gun we can prolly help more.
Why do you wanna rebuild it is it broken? What are you tryin to achieve rof, fps, reliability, durability quietness?

You dont really need to change the mortor you just have to install the piston properly for the high speed motor.
Prolly shave a tooth or two and correct the AOE just take it to a gun doc or google it up. Tho you dont really need a high rof foe a support gun. If you have another gun id swap the high speed motor for into that gun and rebuold the 249 in a stock way then do the other gun with the high speed motor. You will still have to correct the aoe and prolly shave a tooth or two off the piston to prevent pre engagememt or youll just chew the teeth off the piston in the other gun

I've had good luck with all Modify pistons. What is the rate of fire? If it's not too high you can go for a Modify Quantum piston and their Aluminum piston head, heavy but indestructible.

The three nost important things on a saw are the shimming, the AOE, and the ROF.
You need your gears to be properly shimed so they dont strip or fail catastrophicly. AOE needs to be perfect so your piston doesnt explode. And you want your ROF above 25 bb/s, I find between 25 and 30 bb/s to be the sweet spot, you dont run out of ammo too fast and you can keep down alot of heads. no sense in carrying around a saw shooting 12 bb/s when you can get the same effect from an m4 and a few midcaps. You have a big box mag, may as well use it. If you dont want to do the work yourself, an AD classic drop in gearbox is perfect. Though i would still bring it to your local doc for a shim job and change the wiring to 16 ga. You will also want the spare gearbox just in case yours fails. At 90$ it wont break the bank. |
