G&P SR-25 Conversion Kit Compatibility

Hello all,

Could anyone confirm the delta ring thread type (metric or imperial) on the G&P SR-25 Front Conversion Kit? I would like to know if it will fit properly on my G&P VLTOR M4 body.

Question 2:
I saw a SR25 URX Installation tool, and have no idea what this tool is for. Can I do without it, if i plan on installing the SR-25 Front Kit? It would be great if someone can shed some light on this, and anything else I should consider before going ahead with this.

As far as I know, the Kit will actually ONLY fit G&P receivers.

The inner barrel it comes with is probably going to be junky, and if it's anything like what G&P usually does - the barrel extensions will be 14mm CW threaded, which means you're going to need CW-threaded muzzle devices, which are near impossible to find if you want anything other than standard M16A2 style. The trademarks are covered up by permanent marker and is very difficult to remove.

You're going to need the tool unless you can somehow tighten down the URX rings without the tool. Otherwise, you're going to get some gnarly rail/receiver rotation. LOL. I bought mine for $25 used and it's paid for itself many times over.

The biggest question is - why are you installing a 7.62 rail system on a 5.56 receiver?

Aside from the URX tool, was there anything else needed for the conversion? i.e. tools/mod to the gun or parts etc?

Also, (assuming you've imported the kit) did you have Cdn custom issues or duty fee to pay for the kit?

wont be an issue to import, you WILL have taxes (13%) and duties (whatever they charge theese days) unless you pay a brokerage fee then youll just have to pay the tax part the shipping company useually7 con=vers duties in the brokerage fee.
and i seccond the question about the 7.62 front set on the 5.56 lower, guess you wanna use existing m4 mags or somethin?
yes it will fit it just wont look "right" i mean its airsoft so itll be cool and unique but it wont look like any real world firearm

No other tools/modifications needed.
No duties, but as with importing anything, your mileage may vary.

I suppose it's not a big deal as long as you like the look but the SR-25 is chambered in 7.62mm and you're putting it on a 5.56mm receiver. *shrug*

My biggest concern was the receiver threading compatibility issue. Is it safe for me to assuem that all (or most) G&P Front Conversion Kits are threaded only for G&P receivers?

If the above is true, I may consider another kit that look more appropriate instead.

Sorry to confuse you, but I just remembered 2 weeks ago John installed the exact rail system on an ACM AEG receiver without issues. So no, it's not a safe assumption.
Whether the tolerances on the G&P rail nut are loose enough to accommodate both G&P and AEG threading OR if it's ONLY compatible with AEG threading that's unknown.

However, logic states that they wouldn't make different rail sets to fit AEG and G&P receivers ... right?

You use that tool for a rifle like in the photo. The barrel nut is not exposed so you can't get a spanner on it.

The short rail bolts on to hold the receiver and rail and prevent it from moving. The pipe with handles slips over the barrel and between the rail to a barrel nut with 4 slots. It spins the nut off and then you can pull the whole works apart.

For the front end in your link you want a URX-II or URX-III. Not sure which for that kit.

i cant tell you where due to your lack of AV status but i can tell you that in the gta there is a retailer that has a full metal SR25 (the whole working gun) two versions actually one shorter version with suppresor and one full length one) the full one is 350 the suppresed one os 380. by the time you spend 150 on the kit 50 on the tool and pay shipping tax and duties your prolly close to 300 if not more, you may wanna consider just pickin up a full sr25...

Most has been said already..

-You don't need the URX tool as this is not an URX rail kit.
-The threads are SAE, it will fit on any G&P receiver as well as any WA/G&P or WE based GBBR.
-If you want to fit this on a Metric standard upper, you only need to order a new delta ring. The other parts will fit properly.
-You will probably want an armorer's wrench to tighten the ring down.
-If you want the "correct" caliber barrel, you will have to order a M16 16" or 20" barrel. But the difference is minimal.
-Muzzle thread are righty-tighty, so most airsoft muzzle device won't fit. You can either order the above barrel or a 1" thread adapter.
