I have 7.4 20C 1800 mah batteries as backups/loaner batteries, they work fine on stock or close to stock setup guns. I've lent them out to people who have guns shooting 400fps with .2s and they are fine, and comparible to their 9.6 nunchuck minis they normally use.

These same batteries are also capable of running my primary guns with lonex a1 motors and 13:1 and 16:1 gearsets both shooting 400 with .2s.

I will note though that both my guns also have mosfets. The p90 is not completely rewired, only the motor wires are new, the trigger wires are the original wiring harness of the p90, while the g36 is all new wiring everywhere.

I normally use 11.1v 25c 1800 mah with the p90 and a 11.1v 30c 1600mah with the g36.

all batteries are from hobbyking.

A torque motor "can" run on your current batteries. The only problem is that it will run SLOW. Time to "torque" will be faster than with a speed motor so you'll get faster trigger response BUT as a result you'll lower your ROF because torque motor will spin slower.

a neo 'torque' motor isn't really comparable to a ferrous magnet torque motor... a neo motor will easily out torque that motor AND be as fast as a standard ferrous motor if not faster. An shs motor will give him tons of torque for snappy trigger AND speed for rof increase over the existing motor he has.

only problem with the SHS motor is the power it needs to run smoothly.

I have no space for a large battery of any kind

I'll refer you to this:

So, as numerous people said already here, it will run. But now as fast (ROF) as it could. The bigger motor will overcome the initial resistance (time to full speed spin) much faster, but the continuous spin (ROF) will be slower than with a bigger battery.
