I started about 3 years ago by myself and had next to nothing in terms of equipment/kit. I found out very quickly, that as long as you're mature and respectful of the sport, and actually listen to what you're told/advice given, the Airsoft community in general is a very welcoming place! I wouldn't worry about not knowing anyone at first, half of my friends right now are guys I met at through Airsoft!

90% of my kit is Cold war, PRC or Soviet. I'm working on getting a set of M88 Afganka uniform in the new year.

In airsoft you wear whatever you want, unless a game or your team has set rules.

Save up for a Nice kalashnikov, Cold war Soviet gear for the most part isn't too expensive.

Nice, I found a few sites that have some good stuff, shipping isn't too bad but Russian sizing is confusing. Do you use these sites at all?

I would like to know where you get your stuff?

Also I am looking to buy these soon, do you know if they are any good?

Hopefully this helps with sizing

I ordered some of my kit from
http://www.frontowiec.com/

As for the boots, I'm not sure, you can check http://www.red-alliance.net/forum/index.php?www and see if someone has done a gear review on it.
