Getting a midded semi auto m4 AEG back to full auto?
Hey ASC,
Down here in New Zealand full auto is illegal on all types of firearms including airsoft & paintball. But there is a law change that is happening really soon that is going to legalize full auto. Currently all our guns have to be modded to shoot semi auto before entering the country but when this law change passes I would like to convert it back to having the option of firing full auto (select fire). Now I am useless with internals so I have no idea how they mod it to semi in the first place but what I'm interested in learning is how to convert it back to being able to shoot full auto. One I want to do it to is a G&G raider if that changes anything. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks |

Depends on how it was modded in the first place but I assume it was probably done by shaving down the selector plate. If that's the case you'll just need to buy a new selector plate and put it in your gun.

Hi Regicidal,
When is this law change happening?, and does it mean we can buy fully auto AEGs from the states and get them through customs without modding them to semi auto? Cheers. |

Japan, HK and Taiwan really close though! Think of all the goodies they offer!

lol why buy a gun from the states when you have a larger selection from south east asia? not to mention its way closer. no matter what people say about the US i still consider Hong Kong, Japan, and Taiwan as the Airsoft Hubbs of the world. Echo1 dont count as a manufacturer cuz all they do is rebrand. 90 percent of all brands come from South East Asia!!!
AZN FTW anyway back to the point, you gun was probably modified with its selector plate somehow, so change one, its like a 10 dollar part. very cheap

The easiest way to lock full auto out would be through the selector plate was modded or it was removed completely... safety on all guns is a mechanical safety on the gearbox itself, it won't allow the trigger mechanism to be moved, so it's not part of the auto/semi portion of the selector plate.
Separating the lower receiver out of the upper should be able to reveal the top of the plate... better idea to watch a youtube vid to see what else is involved in taking the gearbox out completely.. then reverse the process to reassemble and readjust motor height. |

Are you thinking of a V3 Ak type mechbox? Where the selector plate doesn't actuate anything that blocks the trigger...usually some other gear/cog does that. |

As many other said, Selector plate was modded...
Can you select the FA position on the gun? If not, then it's simply a set screw that was added behind the selector plate to restrict the movement. If yes, and it still fires in semi, you will need a selector plate. |
