IPSC Airsoft Shooting

as I'm new to this forum, I thought this is the right place to post my question (s).
I have half an year since I started training and shooting IPSC. and since I'm a fan of Glock pistols I bought 2 of them: 1 Glock 19 from KWA ( which I'm using for my regular games as a side arm) and 1 Glock 17 from TM (which I'm using for my IPSC shooting). by now, I have participated at 2 local contests. my gun is almost stock. the only things I have changed are the the sights with a AIP fiber optic sights (I can help with this instalation because it's not that easy for someone who does not know what to do) and a Guarder mag catch (which also needed some modifications to fit perfectly). also, I'm using a IPSC quick holster and magazines bought from ehobbyasia.
but I have a problem: one of my friends borrowed his TM Hi-Capa 5.1 to shoot. and it seems to me that shoots more accurate than my Glock 17. and it is stock as mine. and almost all guys have TM Hi capa 4.3 or 5.1. my first intention was to upgrade ny Glock to a race gun but now I have doubts.
so, my question is: which platform do you consider it's best to be improved in order to shoot IPSC? and which parts are really necessary to be changed in order to have a more faster and accurate gun?
one mention: I can't use an open race gun at my contests.

I aswell used a standard TM Glock 17 when I begun with IPSC. To be honest, it was shooting very accurately and was great for learning. But I made the step to the TM hi-capa just because there are sooo many aftermarket parts for it that it is ridiculous

When I was active in IPSC, I switched from using 1911 style pistols to a Glock 24C. I actually enjoyed using that Glock, but its unusually sharp grip angle (compared to that of a 1911) made acquiring the sights more of a challenge. I only resolved that issue by being one of the first in my club to start using a parallax-free red dot scope. Among its many virtues, the 1911 and its many derivatives have a very natural grip angle, which helps in quickly putting sights on target. What I'm saying is: both are good choices, but for a rapid sight picture, I would choose a Hi-Capa.

as Kunlun said, the main reason for switching to hi-capa is the variety of aftermaket parts. but I still think though that hi-capa is more reliable.

You kind of answered yourself a bit. There's a ton of stuff you can do to the TM Hicapa 4.3/5.1 platform to make it shoot faster/more accurately/etc...or just ruin a perfectly good gun.

However...there's tons of stuff that's not really "needed" to get better accuracy/cycling times.

They're considered to be so good that there's often a specific "standard" class set aside for non-open class 1911/2011 pistols. Then there is a "production" class for everything else. IIRC a glock would fall into production class.

Hicapa's are a lot easier to tune than glocks...but it's doable. I just bought a TM G17 and the trigger is fantastic on it. Light, crisp and a short reset. The inherent problem with it is that the inner floats inside the outer...but that's an easy fix (and greatly improves the POI and groupings).

For a quick fix I shim/layered some duct tape on the inner barrel so it would correct the shot grouping to the left and low. Now that I know that works well I'll machine a plastic barrel spacer so something a bit nicer. A stiffer recoil spring would speed up slide cycle and a tightbore would be nice. With just doing those things to a stock TM G17 I'd be happy to hit the line with it as a production gun.

It's also harder to tune the springs, trigger stroke and hammer force on a glock...usually not worth it.

But if you want something just out of the box to shoot unmodified...it's hard to beat the TM 5.1

you're right. I kinda answered myself. but my heart is still with my TM Glock 17. and in fact, some simple mods and I can shoot with it very well (PDI or NineBall tight bore, NINE BALL Air Seal Chamber Packing - purple one, Guarder enhanced loading nozzle, NineBall recoil spring guide - with buffer included, PDI or NineBall piston head). I already did the mod you mentioned: I wraped teflon tape around the plastic outer barrel and I sprayed silicon oil on it. another mod I would like to do is stippling my plastic frame or making a grip pad from skateboard tape. so, there will be one thing unchanged: the plastic slide. which can be a future project.
but then I ask myself a question: is it wort investing more money in my Glock or I should stop here and buy a hi-capa? that is the question I can't answer myself to. and that's why I need your opinions and advices because I'm sure they are not new to you.
