I'm willing to bet it's the batteries and/or motor... most likely the batteries. Those (the electrical side of things) are the components I've spent the least time lurking and researching over the past 4 years and as a result I am least familiar with them and their concepts.

As I progress with this issue, I'll be sure to test my motor in the way you mentioned.

My gearbox and batteries are already wired to deans but I will probably order a mosfet given that LiPo's will free some space in my top cover. I've ordered some 16 AWG with my batteries and may replace the wiring after I compare 16 AWG with whatever I have on it now.

To my knowledge, my gears are stock VFC gears (which I assume are 18:1) and are in very good, fully functional condition despite their age and abuse.

Thanks for your long paragraph as usual MaciekA, always very informative and a good read.
Thank you everyone else for your explanations and suggestions, keep them coming if you have them.
