Help: plastic shavings in and around piston

Hey folks,

I've opened the gearbox on a G&P TR (v2 gearbox) to change the spring today, and noticed a lot of plastic shavings in and around the piston. Upon closer inspection, it seems like the spring is taking away plastic around the rim of the plastic piston on the inner side, where the spring first enters the piston.

Question, is this "normal wear and tear" or is something seriously wrong? If something is wrong, could you provide some details on how to fix this issue? Or what could be the potential cause?

Thanks in advance!

I don't think this is normal.

Check the alignment of the Piston, Spring, and Spring Guide. Do you know exactly where the plastic is being shaved off? If so, try and see what's wrong with the movement and clearance of the part.

I might guess badly molded or deformed Piston, Piston Rails, or Gearbox Rails, but I'm not too sure.

Spring shouldn't really be touching the piston like that.. Is the spring guide damaged or misaligned? Pictures would help...

i will post some pictures tonight. If i touch the inside rim of the piston, the plastic seems to be evenly shaved off all around the inner rim.

sand the spring.Contact is probably at the end of it where the spring ends.Find the sharp edge and san it down.
there are ball bearings assembly you can mount inside the piston to avoid that kind of problem.
One washer could work too.

I'll try this. So the issue you're suggesting is that one (or both) end of the spring is not flat?
