Looking for ideas on upgrades for a KJW 1911 GBBP

I have a new piston head to throw in this thing but what other upgrades are commonly done to gas blow back pistols?

What exactly do enhanced recoil springs and hammer springs do?
How about a tight bore inner barrel?
Hop up/Rubber upgrades?

I love the pistol but need to tighten up its gas consumption some how. (I've tried all the magazine mods out there but just never seem to work out)

Hey I'd for sure go for the Nine Ball air seal packing (purple one), a tight bore barrel ( I read that 6.01 is good for accuracy at 25ish meters and less, and the 6.03 would get it a little more accurate a little farther but with less fps)
Black raven pdi 6.01 is what I have.
The enhaced recoil spring is more than likely already installed due to the fact that the kjw 1911 already has a metal slide.
Upgraded hammer springs don't really do much. Lots of mixed oppinions whether it gives more or does nothing... Soo its your choice really. My oppinion is it just makes the hammer come down a lot faster and harder- which could be good.

Also, a light weight blowback housing could help since its lighter than the stock and would allow the slide to move quicker and easier.
However, this could be tricky to install. Kjw are clones of tm but nothing is ever perfect since the blow back housing is made for the tm platform

Hope that helps
Alex

A harder hammer spring actually increases gas consumption. A tighter barrel and better hop bucking help very very slightly with gas consumption, but you are probably not going to notice the difference. Check the Nine Ball Dyna piston head, these do help with gas consumption a bit. But the biggest boost to gas consumption you would get would be from a lighter slide. Aluminum would help, the best gas efficiency would be from a TM 1911 plastic slide, but if you go that way, you would need weaker recoil and hammer springs.

Yes, agreed that what I mentioned will not improve gas consumption.
They are however good upgrades

So i put the Nine Ball piston head in... started shooting through the chronograph and when shooting single shots it was working great. (I am getting a +30fps boost as well)

BUT..

Started double/triple tapping into a target and the slide seemed to start sticking..hammer remained back a little. I was not able to shoot again until i pulled the slide back to charge the gun. Once i did that i was able to slowly shoot one shot at a time but as soon as i start increasing the shot frequency it just locked up again.

The nine ball dyna piston head comes with 2 o-rings (one larger then the other) I tried both o-rings and getting the same result. It almost seems like with the improved air seal and compression.. the recoil spring is no longer strong enough to support the full metal slide (despite it being a reinforced spring to begin with).. not sure here.

I also did a hop up rubber floss/teflon mod but that wouldn't be the cause would it? I'll remove all of that to eliminate it from the list of potential issues (but i've done it before with the same pistol and it didn't cause any issues)

Stock this gun can shoot rather quickly so if i cant figure this out i just blew $25 on a great piston head that just isn't working with my gun.

NOTE: the specific gun model is the Cybergun Licensed WWII trades KJW 1911A1 GBBP (Co2 & Green Gas)

Wondering if an enhanced loading nozzle spring would help? Like this one

sometimes those piston heads can a bit tricky.
Some, when combined with certain types of loading nozzles..airsoft surgeon light weight blowback unit combined with guarder loading nozzles.. DO NOT WORK because they are way to tight and nothing cycles properly.

so perhaps the fitment is too tight with the piston head inside the loading nozzle?

Also, keep the piston head lubricated properly because if they are not the rubber oring can 'roll' off the piston part and get all jammed up inside or break entirely.

The spring could be a possibility, both nozzle return, and slide return.

Nozzle spring because its not resetting the nozzle before you pull the trigger so the gas isn't getting pushed through the opening (as they wont line up when not in battery) to throw the slide back.

As apilar said, lube the piston head. I usually put a few drops of silicon oil on the o-ring itself and thoroughly clean the blowback chamber and re-grease it when installing a piston head.

Well guys i give up.. I've tried everything to get this Piston head to work in my gun but nothing I am doing works. Every time i shoot it just starts to stick and the slide goes nowhere.

- I've tried both the larger and smaller o-Rings
- I've greased up the piston and loading nozzle

The only thing i haven't tried are upgraded/enhanced Loading Nozzle and Recoil Springs. I guess I'll order up a set and see how that works.

I have read plenty of articles on line about how this piston head solved the KJW 1911 air consumption problems but of course it doesn't work for me with the same gun!

I just don't get it

Maybe your nozzle has a manufacturing defect... is it perfectly smooth? Is there bumps in it? Have you tried with another one? I've had good results with the Airsoft Surgeon and Shooter Design nozzles.
