VFC HK416 Selector Switch Issue
I've got an issue with the selctor switch where it has come loose. The first time it got so loose the switch just fell off during a game. My local gun doc replaced it and worked fine and then the next game it started getting loose again. Is this a typical issue with the VFC's selector switch or just something on my gun?
Anyone have any solutions to this? It's quite annoying... Thanks!

I haven't heard of this being at all common...
The selector switch is attached by a little screw that passes through a little metal/plastic disk that's on the inside of the body. If the threads/hole in the back of the selector are stripped out...or if the screw is stripped...then I can see that happening. I think that it simply takes a "standard" selector switch...which you can get on their own or in a "body kit". Either way you'll need to get the mechbox out of the body (same as many other M4's)...and you'll need to pop out the fake selector switch cover from the right side of the body (they're usually crazy glued in place). Then put the selector switch (with spring and ball underneath) in position...line up the selector disk...put a small touch of loctite on the screw and screw it together. Then glue back on the right side fake selector switch cover. There's usually a pin/ball and spring under the selector switch...that makes it click into the various positions. Some switches have it captured...many don't. If you've lost those you'll want to find a replacement switch that comes with those bits (spring and ball...or spring and plug). You might be able to find a small enough spring and ball...but they're tiny and unusual. A full body kit should have them. Contact Jugglez at airsoftparts...he should have what you need. Or a local gun doc who does a lot of work. He'll probably have odds and ends left over from other builds. Best of luck |

Thanks!
Luckily the spring and ball are still there, I've also heard that the spring and plug kept the switch in position better than the spring and ball or did it really matter?

Not that I've found. A couple of radomish tips.
1. Use a bit of grease (doesn't matter what type) on the spring and ball/pin...it'll help keep it there in place in the selector switch so it doesn't drop out. 2. Use a small drill bit and just lightly (use your fingers...not a drill) touch up the detent divots on the body. That'll make clicking into the various positions a bit more positive. |

It happened to me a few times on my VFC 416. I tried a King arms lever and it worked but the geometry of the lever was a bit off from the stock one the detent ball didn't line up with the dimples in the body.
I mixed the VFC lever with the KA disc, had to press them together. Then I made sure I wound the fixing screw on tight. It has been solid since then (2+ years).

Thanks for the tips, I'll forward these suggestions and hopefully it works out. I'll report back as to the findings.
