MT R.A.S. on an ICS m4a1
ive recently installed an MT R.A.S. on my ics m4a1 and it seems that the outer barrel is more flimsy than it was with the stock m4 handguard.is this the way RAS systems are created...since it is a "free floating barrel"?it seems that i wont be able to use the outer barrel to mount anything...like the stock rifle sling, its with the tri-sight and if i use it as a sling point it will surely bend the outer barrel.anybody go any input on this or is this just the way it is?

anyone got any input?all other RAS systems are free floating barrel design right...so does this mean the RAS does not touch the outer barrel?if so...does this mean that mounting anything that has a significant weight on it would bend the barrel..especially if using the barrel as a sling point?or if my barrel just messed up because it wiggles around a bit...anyone?...dont all reply at once now...

-_-
If you got a free floating RAS, which means it doesn't touch the barrel, do not put a sling mount on the barrel, you will just stress the barrel.
If your barrel wiggles around, then that means you didnt tigthen it well. If you want to have a sling mount, i suggest putting it on the FF RAS. I had a KAC RAC 2, it is FF. I removed the sling mount on the triangle sight because it was stressing the barrel when I use the sling, and got another sling mount to the RAS. |

wait wait...so the barrel should not be wiggling around even a bit?it should be pretty solid on its own right?because i always thought that it was the handguard that provides its solidity, since it somewhat supports the barrel.
well i dont have my m4 right now (gone for upgrades) to check but my RAS is only installed partially to the body because i could not tighen it any more due to the thread on the front end of the body being covered by paint...will be stripping it once i get it back.you think the RAS not being tightened fully right up to the body makes my barrel wiggle or wobble like it does? -Jr
