My other option is getting a Systema energy drop in gearbox.

I bought one for my king arms and it fit in the lower receiver but was to tight in the upper and couldn't put ut back together the upper would get stuck. The parts in them are definitely good parts the gear set alone is 99 bux and the case is 60 I think. I would recommend it just be aware you might need to remove a bit of material inside the upper receiver.

IMO compared to the stock VFC gearbox the price you pay for the Modify Torus isn't worth it. I will stand behind the VFC gearbox, and although not the greatest out there it does it's job fine.
Now that said, I will be dropping in a Modify Torus into my next rifle build but that's because I'm building it up from scratch and it's worth it to me. If you were dropping it into some chinaclone brand then great but the "performance boost" you get from the Modify versus the stock VFC IMHO isn't worth it. As for the SystemA Energy I'm not too sure on those. The concept seems cool but I'm skeptical of that versus a standard "Complete Mechabox" or the Revolution Mechabox (which kind of almost turns your AEG into a pseudo-PTW thing but also costs like $400 overseas).

From my experience it's not worth it unless you're a fan of brittle polycarb piston heads. Torque-up gearset is also not necessary if you upgrade your motor to a nicer ACM one than what's in your VFC right now. With the torque-up gearset, your rate of fire will be teh suck.
Besides the above, everything else is solid. Why not build up your current VFC box? I've worked on several and find them extremely easy to work with. |
