top rail mount options SIG 55x?

so, Ive ordered an ICS sig 551 and was about to purchase the top rail mount for optics

(this type of one, I see it everywhere, looks standard for sig 55x
)

but was wondering, is this my only option? is there a universal one? perhaps something that sits higher? Has anyone tried to use another type of mount on a sig 55x?

thanks for helping me out here

I don't think there's any other option, short of you doing a bit of work on the gun to fit the rail. I've seen on the net somewhere an H&K claw mount on a SIG rifle, but that might be a custom job. SIG rifles are a pain to do anything custom on. Totally worth it, though.

If you don't want to do anything crazy, I think the easiest option is just to get the standard SIG 55X rail and put a riser on it.

yeah im not really thinking about doing anything crazy... just was wondering about the possibility of a universal mount

its not too much to do with price, but yeah it seems to be in the $40 range for one, kinda crazy coming from using a m4 platform previously...

I wring my hands everytime I buy anything for my rifle. Lowcap magazines are worth a pile of M4 magazines each. I had to buy new rails for my rifle. The cheek rest ran me close to $50 bucks, for what I could have gotten for 10 on the AR platform. $40 is pretty steep for what's basically a fancy piece of metal, but consider that there really isn't too much else to do to the rifle unless you're nuts, and you can sort of convince yourself you've saved money.

Use that, then put a rail riser on it. That piece is the most important part, as it converts your "nothing" into "standard rail".

Why don't you just buy one that's already made to the correct dimensions?

$40 is a lil steep for a rail... Im not going to do anything crazy to my gun. Usually at work depending on what Im cutting on my machine, theres alot of just watching it cut, sometimes for hours. This will give me something to do between then.

I'll probably lose interest and just buy the rail though lol

Dude $40 is cheap for a rail. The one for the real gun is $150.
