Re-Introduction to Airsoft

Alright, to begin I've been airsofting for years however I've never had an opportunity to seriously get into it. Currently I have an ICS M4 with a mess up hop-up.

Now, I'm looking to actually get into the sport and get some decent equipment, however I'm new and a bit lost. I want to buy new so I'm not sure if the classifieds can cater to that, and my budget is about 500$. I'm aimed around having a gun with good distance, preferably electric.

Thanks

I suggest a KA M4. They can be had for about $300-350. You will also need a new spring which will cost you a whopping $10. With the remaining money your next two priorities are good eye protection then boots.

If you don't already have mags, batteries and gear then your budget of $500 may be a bit light but still doable if you shop around in the classifieds for deals.

Edit: I just found a place that carries them for $260 plus shipping.

Thanks, is KA a good make? Like they are reliable? I'm also interested in range, I herd that you need to upgrade your hop-out and barrel for that?

Yes, yes and yes
You can do a quick search too, as there are already tens of threads on all these subjects. I think I can say KA has been one of the most talked about top/mid-range brand in the last year or two.

Cheers

Or you could just replace the hopup unit in your ICS and use that. ICS make some decent guns that have some nice advantages over others (ability to quickly swap uppers / front end and upper mechbox).

You could go KA m4, but you'll also have the most popular gun around and far from original. The classifieds got some real nice guns, either bnib or lnib, for under 500. Replace your ics hop up, and just be patient and keep your eyes open. There seems to be alot of new guns landing at much lower prices lately too.

Agreed. Nothing wrong with ICS. Replace the Hopup, maybe install an SCS spacer and go from there. A lot cheaper than another $500 gun and every bit as functional, if not more.

If I was starting over in airsoft, I would go ICS. I would have 1 gun with multiple uppers / front ends and upper mechboxes to match the velocities and situations I needed.

With ICS, you can switch from sub-350fps with a short CQB front end to an M4 or M16 with 400 fps in seconds and you only need 1 base gun, battery, etc.

To me, if you already have a great platform, buying another gun is a waste of money.
