Guys dust their pouches with krylon all the time. The key word here being dusting. That is, a very, very light coating. Example, I have one OD green shingle that I dusted with tan krylon to get it to match my tan TT-MAV better.
Just hit your vest up with a little brown, black or OD green krylon and you're set. (OD being my first choice). If you like it, then you can also paint your rifle!

Lots of people krylon their gear an it adds realism and allows for a worn look... I just use the crap out of my gear. Just go to a game at a paintball field and crawl through splooge and dirt, makes anything look used
