10.8v in a KWA M4A1

Would a 10.8v battery cause arcing damage to the trigger contacts in a KWA M4?

From my experience, all batteries cause arcing damage if you're running w/o a MOSFET. 7.4v, 8.4v, 9.6v, 11.1v, batteries of all difference sizes and chemistries cause arcing. So yes, a 10.8v battery will certainly cause even more damage to your contacts than a lower voltage battery. Get a MOSFET and never worry about arcing!

I would be more worried about KWA internals at that voltage......

Why? The gears are case hardened steel on 8-9mm bearings.

I have personally run 11.1 lipos for months with no visible signs of wear on the internals. Although this is after replacing the aluminum piston head with a polycarb one and installing a sorbo pad. kwa now uses all 9mm bearing bushings. After one year of gaming,(I use mostly semi) only a small amount of carbon has built up on the trigger contacts.

I had a KWA M4A1 ( I have since then switched to gas only) with the 2GX mechbox and I ran it on a 10.8 all the time... handled it with ease. Yes it uses the hardened steel gears and 9 mm bearings. Very tough mechbox.

That is a problem with KWA AEG's their quality control is kind of hit and miss. You will either get a monday gun or an awsome one that will never breakdown

yes.
very yes.

"case hardened" doesn't mean anything. You don't know if it was done properly, or to what depth, or what the base material is, or what hardness it is, or even if it's been properly quenched afterwards.
That's like when they say "metal" airsoft gun. It's not steel, and it's not aluminum, it's metal. Zinc, lead, brass, and tin are all metals.
