Mods not made for that gun...how to attach it?

Ok, so I basically want to mod my airsoft rifle, but I'm much too scared to use it as my first guinea pig. Therefore, I decided to try and mod my nerf guns first (since my airsoft rifle is a plastic) and I have encountered a problem right away.

How the heck do I essentially take two plastic parts and turn them into one using everyday household items or things that can easily be found at home depot?

I also decided to do nerf guns because I saw someone post a link to a person who modded and painted nerf guns well......could someone direct me to that site so I can take a closer look and maybe find out more?

Any help is appreciated and thank you in advanced.

JB-Weld or epoxy. The single most useful thing for working with plastic since it was invented.

I suddenly realize that I have been living under a rock since I also race R/C's as a hobby and I did not know what JBWeld is and had to google it......thnx for that info.

The guy that modded and painted the nerd guns awesomely was called mixandmunch or something like that, but no amount of googling seems to net me a link I'm looking for....

Zap a gap is also a wicked product .. especially plastic to plastic

tip for modding ... especially full custom put somthing somewhere it didnt belong.. always cut a little bigger then you plan.. then file or sand to fit... way way way easier then having to fill gaps and such later

Depending on the plastic being used, Testors Model Cement would be much better as it "weld" the two piece together. Use the thin for fine areas, and the gel for larger.

@reckless, thanks for that tip. I will be sure to note that so that my chance for success will be higher.

@ritz, what I am trying to do on my nerd gun is to basically add a bolt to the cocking mechanism to essentially simulate a bolt action rifle. As for my airsoft rifle, I want to basically take out the rails and integrate a grip so that if I decide to hold the gun itself, I have a spot to do so without a rail hurting my hand. I also dislike the look of the rail just being there...
That's a mod that I want to do to my nerf gun as well so to get some practice.

oh! one I forgot ... HOT GLUE ... seriously .. a hobby grade hi/lo temp glue gun with good dual temp glue sticks...

I built my first full custom scratch build airsoft gun .. a sawed off double barrel .. with a glue gun, scraps, and a pair of goblin solo's ... to my knowledge a year and a half later .. it still functions... but I think it's a wall queen now.

If your parts are made of the same material, you should try bonding (not gluing) them together by using a solvent adhesive for that specific material, this will insure the strongest bond without adding addition material such as overlaying hot glue.

Eg. If you material is ABS, use an ABS cement.

a dremel is a good investment... or at the very least the 15$ jobmate rotary tool from canadian tire. chances are you'll strip the chuck on the shitty jobmate though... just like me... but at least I got the grinding wheel I need for most jobs jammed on it There could be worse bits to be stuck on it... it's already worth the 10$ sale price I got it for :P
