Piston - full steel teeth Or not?

Ok I've searched for the past 40min and I can't seem to find any info on this, I was looking at some upgrades for my Ares Far-21 and was wondering what are the benefits to a full steel toothed piston Or not?

This is how I see things. A full steel toothed piston is going to last longer but will create more wear and tear on the gears (metal on metal vs metal vs plastic). The piston, is probably one of the cheapest main components of a gear box. If you mess up on installing (IE bad shim job, you just lose a plastic piston, but if you use a metal tooth one, you might lose the piston and the gears)

I would much rather have my piston break and replace it for $20, than replace a $60 set of gears. But mind you, I know how to take apart and maintain a mechbox.

But another thing to consider is, if I don't know how to take a part my mechbox, I would rather have it last as long as possible, thus putting in the most durable parts inside I can.

In all seriousness, full steel tooth pistons aren't a great idea unless you're doing some crazy out of the norm set up.

Polycarbonate pistons last just as long anyway. It's not uncommon for a prometheus piston to last more than 3 years and more than 200,000 rounds at 1500rpm
