yes i saw that, but i guess i was mistaken because i thought that when i read it, he was only referring to the mountain version. That being said, is it better to have the G-version, or is the regular version adequate?

With the regular version you can't regulate the velocity of gas emmited during firing, thus you will be in the mid 500's with .20 bb's. Maybe higher.
This is awsome but some fields might not allow you.

well id rather spend less and just use a heavier BB. especially after you recommended them (i saw your post on the WWII website.). The problem is that i have yet to find a heavy BB brand that can be used with TB barrels. I did find the KSC .30 BBs. they are supposed to be good with TB barrels. I also found .36 aluminum coated BBs, but that cant be safe IMO. Unless it is too difficult to do so, i plan on putting a TB inner barrel in the Mauser when i eventually get it.
On and aside, i have never actually handled a real steel version of the gun. The rail that the tanaka scope mounts to, is that where a scope would be mounted on the real steel version? cause all of the pics ive seen, it doesn't look so, but i could be wrong. |

The Real deal K98 had some ways of mounting a scope.
Some are mounted on the receiver some are mounted on the rail on the left side of the rear sights, or there were some scope mountes that mounted into the place of the rear sight, which required the removal of the sight. Yes the Tanaka mount is historically accurate, but the scope itself sucks. I wouldn't use Aluminum coated BB's. Metal on metal can wear your barrel out faster even if its lubed. i personally have no experience with heavy BB's. I just bought a bag of .36 Straight brand BB's. Uncoated, we'll see how it works. Also don't buy the graphite coated stuff, apparently its bad for the hop-up rubber.

I read about those a while ago.
Apparently they were worse performers than the 8mm Gas version.

98K Manual
Does anyone know where I might possibly get a Manual for either of the Mauser 98K airsoft rifles offered? I have a chance to pick up one of the better Tanaka ones but with no manual. I like the idea of Whermacht markings on the metal and true wood stock.
Thanks for your help Last edited by Zepp Dietrich; August 8th, 2011 at 18:47.. |
