Turning off hopup in GBB
I know that some people turn off the hop up in AEGs when not playing to prolong the rubber's life. And it's not problem because all you gotta do is dial a wheel/drum in most of them. Plus, you can always mark your default setting with a marker/tape/nailpolish/etc so finding your sweet spot when you play again is easy and fast.
BUT when it comes to GBB pistols, especially the ones where you have to use a tool or remove the slide... it seems like a real pain. How many of you actually do this for your GBBs and is it THAT bad to leave the hop up on? Or is it always recommended to turn it off? Thanks |

I've left my hopup on at least a year, if not more.
It doesn't matter. Set it and forget it. |

A new rubber is 8$ most of the time anyway. I prefer keeping mine set and changing it when it will die than resetting and adjusting my hopup before everygame.

Only ever heard of manufacturers not setting the hop up on a gun before packaging, so a new gun will have no hop up dialled in. Outside of this, I never heard or read of anyone turning it off regularly until this thread. Sounds very pointless actually, almost as bad as removing the piston spring between games to lengthen the life of it.

What about turning the hop up off when cleaning barrels with the rod+patch? Or when unjamming a BB in game? Last edited by ledsurfboat; August 2nd, 2011 at 03:02.. |

Cleaning your gun and barrel after every game is what I do. This way my gun is ready for the next and I don't have to worry about it. Depending on where and how often you play, you can stretch the cleaning to after two games.
