Arrow [g&g] sig 552

Hey everyone,

Here's another video review for the G&G SIG 552. It is about one hour and twenty minutes long and splitted in 3 parts. I managed to cover every area I could think of, save for the chrono test (FPS and RPS), as I didn't have a chrono with me at the time.

I happen to have one now and I will update the description of part 3 of my lengthy review with the results I just obtained now. I can display them here though before I do it on the video.

Part 1
Part 2
Part 3

I took 6 shots on semi-auto, hop up all the way down, with .2 BBs (the brand is 'Pirate Ultimate Precision BBs', should it matter) for the FPS, and that's what came out :

1. 371
2. 375
3. 353
4. 417 (!)
5. 377
6. 365

Average : 376 FPS

I'm just 4 FPS below the field limit authorized here in Switzerland, good.

Now for the RPS. Same process, same ammo, 3 round bursts :

1. 13.50
2. 13.30
3. 13.30
4. 13.50
5. 13.50
6. 13.30

Average : 13.40 RPS

Pretty stable, I like that.

I precise that the battery I used for these tests has been charged prior to do the third part of my video (which was shot somewhere around march 2011 I believe). The battery is a GP 9.6V 3700 mAh (Ni-Mh).

Please let me know what you thought of the review, discuss and ask questions on this thread. I'll try to answer them.

Hmm. Don't you guys have to have the real deal sitting around the house somewhere? How does it compare?

Actually, we don't have to but we can keep it. When you have finished your recruit school that is. I believe that today it has changed and at the end of your service, the rifle remains at the arsenal. If you want to keep it at home, you have to spend a few bucks.

I'm not sure to understand your second question

I have a real one. The G&G is almost identical.

Margi, my question basically was asking in your experience with both the replica and the real thing, how are they compared with one another?

I thought he hadn't posted them yet? I don't see any links up there.

Hmm. I'll try switching browsers. That looks like plain text to me.

Hahahahaha Thanks for the shout out. That's me on Arnie's (IronOverlord)
Good review. It was nice to see what's inside for parts. I haven't opened up the gear box as it's been shooting great.
Mine seems to group a lot tighter.
I was surprised about the airseal. What kind of FPS were you getting? Was it consistent?
Mine is shooting 380-390 consistently. Maybe yours was made on a friday, and that's why a few things are a bit off :P

a couple of other things...

- The serial numbers are unique.... my 552 is 2201

- You can get an 8.4v mini nanchuk battery in it....here's a link to a thread I made for a mod to fit an 8.4v mini NiMH battery.

http://www.airsoftcanada.com/showthr...52+battery+mod

- I put a piece of black vinyl (cut from a black 3 ring binder) in the top half of handguard so you can't see the battery and wires through the holes.. It is just a rectangle of it, and it's just placed in loose in the handguard.

here is also a review I did here for the G&G SIG550

http://www.airsoftcanada.com/showthread.php?t=93112

You can see the 550 is exactly like the 552 except for the obvious length of the front end. The 550 doesn't have the SIG or the + Swiss shield, for the trades on the top of the receiver. I don't know if you removed the top rail yet... but it has the Swiss cross on the front like the real steel also has.

- Don't worry too much about babying the buttstock. I find it is very solid. It can take getting slapped open.
again good job with the review.

- TM lowcaps work flawlessly in them, and MAG brand mags work too... after they get modded a bit. (they need a light filing on the front mag lip.)
There is also a thread here on ASC about it... I think TaroBear may have started it?

Again good video review. And don't worry about your English. It was just fine.

Oh yes, my bad. I remember that modification of yours. But I guess I'm not totally wrong, since you can't fit any 8.4 battery without modding, right ?

Nice pics and no, I didn't remove the top rail and I'm not planning to do so. Actually, I'm very happy that the gun came with this out of the box, but thanks for the info.

I've heard so many horror stories about this, I prefer not tempting the Devil. It has never happened to me before, and I sure don't want to find out how much punishment this stock can sustain before it breaks.

Again, thank you very much Sir  Someone actually told me it was the upper rear part that needs to be filed to insert the mag correctly. I guess both methods work ? I will check the thread here on ASC but either way, I MUST use this mid caps... it's just the perfect capacity, I don't need anything more or less. I had a set of MAG mags some years ago with my previous TM SIG 552, and they were a hassle to get them to work properly. The batch of mags I acquired now (still MAG brand) are working like a dream though whenever I test them by filling and unfilling them. I hope they will perform well in the gun.

Also, does it bother the bottom feed tube from the hop up chamber ? The same person who told me how to mod the mags also said that it can be distorted because of the mag pushing too much on it.

the Mag Brand do rub slightly on the feed tube, but not enough to distort.... on mine anyways.... I haven't had any feeding issues.
