SOPMOD Block I/II specifications

Just as a reference as everyone is always asking the same questions.

BLOCK 1

Other items not shown here, but commonly used during this period:
- EOTech 552 (instead of the Aimpoint Reflex shown above)
- Surefire M961A
- KAC M4QD
- LaRue BUIS
- KAC rail covers (the only ones)

BLOCK 2
The following was incremental (non permanent) and has been partially phased out in favor of what's seen in pic 2.
http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...d_block2-1.jpg
This is the current Block II kit.

Other items not shown here, but commonly used during this period:
- Docter sight with the SpecterDR
- AN/PEQ-16 (USMC only)
- KAC M4QD
- KAC flip-up front sight
- KAC 600m BUIS
- Grippod

Block II rifles will usually have the crane stock, however many retained the old lower (with the classic stock) but swapped the upper receiver group (as shown on the bottom left). This explanes why many have painted lowers, but unpainted uppers.

What type of iron sights are on the block 2 with a 9.5" dd rail? I'm currently using magpul front and rear flip sights but would like to switch.

They all sold like hotcakes - I'm trying to get more in, but even my suppliers are all having a hard as hell time keeping them in stock. I'm waiting for a backorder to fill right now.

How firm are the KAC irons to spec? I've heard rumor that the LMT fixed irons were also under consideration.

is there any specific reason why they opted to switch from the acog to the spectre?

Because it has variable zoom. From 1x-4x at the flip of a switch.

... plus illuminated dot/crosshairs and Elcan's proven and renowned optical clarity. The number of features that the SpectreDR provided far outweighed the weight increase. But yes, the Spectre is almost 50% heavier

I can't wait to get my hands on a working, proper replica of a Specter train scope/dot.
I got an Aimpoint and a Eotec Magnifier and I don't like it too much.
