Talking First post, introduction..?

Hi there. I guess now is as good time as any to introduce myself.

My name is Sean.

I am originally from Kingston and have just moved to Gananoque. I am 22 years old and own my own business, Think Tank Media Group. I am a web developer/graphic designer, whatever you want to call it.

<--Getting age verified as soon as the Kingston guy gets back to me on a convenient time to meet him!

I have always had an interest in airsoft and guns -_- and have recently - with my finance's permission of course - gotten into the airsoft quite a bit. ^_^

Yesterday i bought some gear from Smith Army Surplus in Kingston. They are awesome guys(and gal)!

CADPAT Jacket - $59.95

CADPAT Pants $59.95

CADPAT Tactical Vest? $99.99

Urban Digital Universal RL Pistol Holster - $19.99 (the cadpat type ones weren't to my liking so I got this one)

Hard plastic FULL paintball mask – $59.99 - I double checked to see if I could push any bb’s though any holes and could not. Really don’t want to get hit in the teeth.) I would really like to get this mask painted professionally, CADPAT – searched forums and couldn’t find any posts – If you know someone please let me know!

I had a really hard time finding any info outside of ASC forums about a trusted place to buy my first AEG and knew if I posted i wouldn't be helped without age verification so i decided to try in Kingston before buying the gun itself online. Alot of the online Canadian vendors guns were alot more expensive and almost no one carries any G36's that I could personally find.

I really, really wanted a Umarex/Ares G36K or KV but could only find a G36C locally and could only get clear. G36K – Be warned, YOU SOON WILL BE MINE BASTARD!

This is what I bought from Bronson & Bronson in Kingston yesterday:

Primary:
Umarex H&K G36C - Clear - $165
300fps - If the gun doesn’t break after a few uses and I check it out a bit more I will likely be upgrading internals.

Note: They had to order 3 of these to order mine, so they will have 2 others in store within the next 2 weeks. I will post when they call me to come pick up my gun and let you guys know they are there if anyone wants to grab one while they are in stock.

Secondary: (temporary)
Umarex H&K P30 - Clear - $39.99
230 FPS - Spring (looking for a full auto desert eagle in the near future)

After digging around alot on ASC and Google I really wanted to buy a tracer (I love the look of the G36C with a silencer but didn't want it to be completely useless so, tracer it is!). I almost bought the Dragon tracer until i found out it probably won’t work on full auto - GARBAGE!

Also bought:

Echo1 Tracer Unit from East Coast Airsoft -$60 + shipping

Wanted to get some optics and maybe some extra mags to.

ZX Acog Red Dot Sight - $59.99 + shipping from AirsoftDepot.ca

DBoy G36 50 round mag - $17.95 + shipping from AirsoftDepot.ca
The stock g36c holds 400 rounds i believe, going to try this one out with 50. If i like it will buy more if not I’ll get some hicap ones.

All 3 add-ons SHOULD be here by next Friday!

I bought some crappy .20 bb's from Canadian tire so I have something to play around with.
I tried to find a 2000+ bag of tracer bb's and only found EHobbyAsia and from what I've read on the forums I would really rather not buy from them. Any suggestions? Going to buy BB Bastard regulars but did not see tracer rounds.

This was the first gun i bought from Canadian Tire for $49.99 - next day it went on sale for $39 -_- Painted it black because i hate the god damn clear.

I’ll post some updates when I get all my gear!

Like the thread says, "Post your introductions here, not somewhere else"

Also that G36 isn't really what we consider "airsoft" since it looks like it has a plastic gearbox/gears, and is almost completely clear otherwise.

Welcome Sean,

Although we do have a section for introduction threads (as already mentioned), but I kinda get the feeling your asking for a little information as well.

Starting out with an inexpensive clear soft is an ok prospect but usually will leave you wanting and while there's no harm in doing so I'd suggest that you enjoy your purchase for as long as it lasts you and after your AVed you check out the great selection avaliable through the retailers here. You'll be pleasantly surprised at the relatively low cost of good quality airsoft.

As for gear, it looks like a good standard assortment of Stuff and will serve it's purpose, the longer you play the more you will experiment and learn what works for you and what does not. And it's always good to support your local guys when you can.

Cheers

I looked around for an intro section, sorry i missed it.

Every review i've seen for umarex, ares, jg and src have metal gears, plastic box. The real G36 is also made out of some type of plastic aswell.

Yeah getting age verified seems to be a fun process. Once I have access to the classifieds going to check in there for something better but I figured this gun will do for now.

Any decent airsoft gun with have a metal gearbox and metal gears.
That G36 gun looks to have neither.

Sorry to say buy you should have saved that $165 and put it towards a decent gun once you're AV'd. Not to rain on your parade but if you actually want to play and have you gun last longer than one game, that's the truth.

I will let you know about the gears when I have it, the exact same model in black has metal gears so I guess only time will tell.

Im not worried about wasting the $165. At least I have a gun to play with until I get av'd which could be awhile it seems, then I will buy a better, higher quality gun.
