Revision Asian Fit Desert Locust Fan Goggles w/ RX Inserts + Arena Flakjak Goggles

So yeah, I ordered this straight off Revision's site in the United States.

With "AR15NEWS" you can essentially get 30% off, which is NICE, and don't forget our dollar is above par atm. So really good deal.
I noticed it was shipped by FEDEX, and immediately prepared for a brokerage fee. However, I was apparently not charged a brokerage fee nor any taxes.

I forgot to mention, my invoice it actually says the delivery terms: DDP, so essentially everything including duties and customs clearance are paid by the shipper, so no worries of extra charges :P

Final Price paid was $160.58 USD which included RX Inserts too. (Essentially $119 for Goggles)

Everything arrived in a small cardboard box, and the goggles were in a bag packed inside the goggle carrying pouch thing.

*Capital Airsoft does not yet carry these, but they said they will be carrying them soon.*

I did want to get a set of replacement clear lenses for backup so I ordered from Capital Airsoft. Shipping did seem quite costly for Canadian shipping, but it is probably due lense protection, so if you can find them locally, you could save on shipping, they go for $20, and I paid $34.64 including shipping.

*I tried asking Chigun if they carried it as it would have been local, but no reply so I just ordered from Capital Airsoft*

UPDATE: When visiting Huang's Feb 26, he did mention he does have Revision Fan Goggles coming in, so you can check him out too.

Revision Desert Locust Fan Goggles

Pros
- Low Profile Goggles (Compared to Paintball Goggles, slightly lower profile than the Flakjaks)
- Low profile fan (Will update on fog control after playing it in March 12 game)
- Fan is stated as dust resistant
- Ballistic & Military Rated
- Uses AA Battery (with 3 speed settings, @ Shot Show 2011 the guy said ~26 hours on high)
- Fits very comfortable with helmet
- Uses same lenses as regular Desert Locust
- Very easy to change lenses as with most goggles
- Very lightweight

Cons
- Prescription glasses won't fit underneath (I tried my smallest pair that fits in a lot of goggles, and even this couldn't fit)

Revision RX Inserts

Pros
- Can be used in 3 models (Sawfly, Desert Locust, and Bullet Ant)
- Very lightweight
- Adapter comes with a nice soft sticky rubber (leaves no residues) that pushes against the lenses and keeps it secure
- Unlike other RX Inserts I have tried, my eyelashes do NOT brush against the lenses (It may occur in Sawfly Glasses, but haven't tried)
- Very little to almost no fog, which was solved by turning my fans on

Cons
- It says it is built for strength and durability, but feels kind of cheap
- Can be expensive to put prescription lenses in
- Sort of like getting new glasses, you need to adapt/become accustomed as it may cause some people to initially feel dizzy

It includes 2 lenses (Clear & Solar), pouch with velcro to attach to belt, cleaning cloth, and dust cover for goggles.

Fit
The side that touches against your face is hard rubber, it feels ok without a helmet, but obviously much more comfortable with a helmet on. Otherwise, perfect fit for my asian face haha... I could understand if it felt uncomfortable with the regular goggles for some people because there may be more pressure points. The flatter Asian Fit allows for more pressure spread for me.

Please note, these are VERY low profile, so you should get RX inserts if you have glasses. If you don't wear glasses, lucky for you T.T

Fog Control
I did get a chance to play with these with a helmet on, where I was sweating without moving at the Udora Indoor March 12 game where there were approximately 70 people in a small school, and warm because I guess the heat in the gym was on?

I had no fogging problems until around the second game due to lots of sweating . Turning the fan on instantly wiped out any fog issues though, and since it can supposedly last a long time with the bonus of using AAs, so far so good :P.

Will be using them for upcoming Zombie and Rhino games :P

Here is a video I uploaded onto youtube for you to here the sound... Pretty standard fan sound... I probably mixed up the fan settings, but yeah whatever hehe...

Arena Flakjak Goggles

Purchased from Goggle Overstock. Ballistic goggles that are ANSI rated, and are cheap due to liquidation. They are priced at $15.95 USD, and I paid $25 shipped, with shipping for 2 goggles would only cost $3 more. It went through USPS, and it did take 2.5 weeks without tracking information for me to get it. Just email him for shipping cost, and if you want tracking info, tell him to add it into the cost. He replies fast in the evenings, so this is probably just his side job or something. Unfortunately these ONLY come in tan.

Opening the package this is what we essentially get. We also get a Solar Lense that I was too lazy to take out of the pouch.

There was a difference between the Revision's, and the Arena Flakjak's pouches. Revision Desert Locust had a separate goggle cover that was attached to the goggles to cover the lenses when they are not in use.

For the Arena Flakjaks, their pouch is essentially the goggle cover. At both ends of the pouch, there are slits open that allow you to have the straps go through, and you basically turn the pouch into a goggle cover.

I personally prefer Revision's because a cloth is much easier to remove on the goggles, but either way is OK I guess.

Pros
- Low Profile Goggles (Compared to Paintball Goggles)
- Ballistic & Military Rated
- Fits very comfortable with helmet
- Smaller prescription lenses can fit underneath
- Very easy to change lenses as with most goggles
- Very lightweight (and similar to the Revisions)
- More viewing angle than the Revisions

Cons
- Since I have an Asian face? There is a noticeable gap near the nose and goggle area. This can be solved where it will fit flush with some masks, while my other masks fit over it nicely too. (Some like Bitter End ones are designed this way?)
- I have yet to try how well it holds against fog other than in my home, however it is supposed to perform really well until it loses its initial anti-fog coating, then it fogs like crazy. (Will update after some field play with this)
- Some complain this is too wide/big

It IS designed for helmets I guess, so that would explain the wideness, imo it is not that much wider than my Revisions, and allows me to wear prescription glasses underneath.

It is also important to note that in the following picture, you will see that it uses foam instead of rubber. Some people prefer this, some don't, so I would say this is personal preference. I found it comfortable, but nothing compared to how well the Revisions fit me.

Well, these fit well without a helmet.
It feels much more comfortable when I use my helmet although without one, it may add a big more pressure to your face.

ONLY BAD THING, my mesh mask does not fit with it lol. No matter how I flex it, the nose area won't fit, but that is OK.

Mask Fit Issue

Easily fixed by adding some extra adhesive soft velcro stuff I had lying around :P

The Sansei mask will actually require more modding to fit flush with the goggles, maybe one day I will start cutting it to fit properly, but for now, the mesh fits almost perfect (pressure points on the cheeks does get slightly annoying.

I've had many skirmishes with my Flakjaks, I've never had any issues with fit and I wear glasses and have an Asian face. :P However, the factory anti-fog coating instantly comes off if sweat gets onto it. The foam isn't very durable either, it started to come off around my 3rd skirmish, which was quite terrible considering these were issued to the US military. Overall there're definitely worth the $20 USD I've paid for it. I picked up a 2nd pair to replace my current one once it wears out beyond use. For w/e reason my 2nd pair didn't come with a tan pouch. Oh well. Good goggles, just don't expect world class performance.
