Stripping paint from plastic?

Hey everyone I bought an ICS ak-74m that's has had the furniture painted at least twice. Now I don't find it very appealing but I'm afraid its going to be too thick if I add another coat.

Is there anyway to strip the paint and leave the plastic intact? If there's a way that doesn't destroy the plastics colour that would be awesome. However even if it "bleaches" it somewhat its ok I'll just do a fresh coat of paint.

use Dot 3 brake fluid. Soak the parts over night then use a stiff plastic brush to take the paint off. It's safe on plastic and metal.

Wet sanding or steel wool, any chemicals will probably melt it

Brake fluid works, it's what my brother uses for plastic warhammer minis

My brother used oven cleaner to take it off model cars kits, but I am not too sure what that will do to the plastic, it might weaken it.

One alternative is ELO (Easy Lift Off). ELO is specifically designed to take paint off of plastic and not hurt the plastic. I found out about it a long time ago when I first started using an airbrush during my plastic model building days. And I went through a lot of it back then...

Brake Fluid or simple green will take paint off plastic safely, just don't leave it in for more than a day or two.

I bought a (heavily) painted M16. Stripped it to look brand new, with Easy Off Oven Cleaner for the plastic parts. No damage, worked faster then the brake fluid. Just use a toothbrush to scrub the flakes off.

Pine Sol or other types of cleaners with pine oil will work too.

Castrol Super Clean (purple stuff). Don't get any on metal parts, the will melt. But it leaves the plastic perfect. Removed 5 coats of paint on a G36 with that stuff.
