Psg1/msg90
I currently have a JG I believe G3 SG1 that I want to use as a DMR.
I want to turn it into an MSG90 but finding the conversion kit for that is like trying to find the shroud of Turin. I have contacted several retailers over seas about this part and all responded with it being out of stock. I haven't even seen any ridiculously over priced ones to buy. I know the MSG90 kit is the easiest to find, but I have noticed the TM PSG1 Front End replacement part at a number of sites. If I where to buy this, how many other things would be needed to complete the front end and how hard would it be to frankenstein this together? Any advice is appreciated. |

well...the MSG90 has the long barrel and front handguard of the PSG1 but retains the full length 20 rd mag of the G3/SG1.
I used a G&G stock, a CA SG1 cheek riser, TM front end. 650 mm inner barrel and a custom outer barrel. It ended up looking like this. Expensive and hard to find the correct Zeis scope and mount. I also used the CA SG1 extended recoil pad. I alternated between the PSG1 grip (not correct fr MSG90) and the OD G3 grip (correct) The MSG 90 does not have any iron sights but I did not come up with a suitable solution to fill the hole remaining where the iron sights were. The authentic MSG90 flashider/muzzlebreak) is impossible to find so I just used a constant diameter outer barrel without a flash hider. Internally this gun was built with a reinforced 8mm gearbox, all upgraded hi torque internals and fired 470 fps with 140 spring. I did block the selector with a small set screw to shoot semi only as in the MSG90.

Is there a non custom barrel that I could get? Since you have shown that the PSG1 handguard works I will get it, but is there any of the barrels out there? What can I do to get one of the custom barrels if it comes down to that?
The Zeis scope is pricey but meh, I want to make the best PSG1/MSG90 I can. Thank you very much for your input so far. I was contemplating PMing you about that gun build. |

Any non tapered barrel will work. I forget the actual length though...I no longer have my gun to measure. The G3 barrel is 2 parts as you know.....the threads end at the end of the handguard so you can just add a barrel extension and a muzzlebreak.......the total length should be 650mm (the length of the PSG1 inner barrel) but my outer barrel ended up being too long so I was going to make a shorter one but ended up selling the gun.....

The PSG1 barrel looks like it will work...but there are no dimensions or lengths given. The other barrel is a stock length G3 barrel so it will be the same as what you have..

You can get a G3 SAS or MC51 barrel and add a longer barrel extension. Since it would end before the end of the hand guard, the joint would be hidden.
I think you can also install the PSG-1 hand guard directly or with very little modification. It extends a bit at the front unlike the G3-SG1 and very much like the MSG-90. |
