In total I bought 3 s90, 1 modify and the 2 others from another brand that I don't know because they didn't come in the packaging and they where bought from someone and not online... Those 2 where tested in my m4. One gave me an average of 280 just like the modify s90 and the other one is giving me a steady 349-350. I don't have my chrono to test right know, so I can't really do some testing, I'll be testing more when I get it back... Did I get 2 bad springs? I don't know I guess it could happen, I must be very unlucky to get 2 bad ones in such a short period of time...

It's possible that I made a mistake when I said the modify s90 that I have is linear, because the other 2 are linear...

A thought occurred to me that due to the fact you have stated that these three springs you are dealing with came from an individual rather than an Airsoft retailer have you considered that the spring you found in the Modify package is not the one that originally came in that package?

How about perhaps the spring that came loose with no id and actually tests in the proper range for a Modify S90+ is actually the one that should have been in the package but the person you bought them from got them all mixed up?

As you mentioned and others here also mentioned a Modify S90 + would have a band of tight coils on one end and if the spring you found in the Modify package doesn’t have those I doubt that it is a Modify S90 + spring.

As I say just some thoughts I have, no way to prove this but it could go a long way to explain what you report here on these posts.

Only 2 where bought from an individual without packaging... They're supposed to be brand new. The Modify s90 was bought online, from a good seller, so I would really be suprised if it wasn't a Modify. It was in a modify package and everything.

I probably check the spring coils installed it and the forgot about it. And I was kind of distracted a bit when I did it, because I was making sure my 15 months old kid wasn't eating any of my gun parts while I was doing it!

I'm pretty sure that it was installed correctly because I always check the coils to make sure I put it in the right way. I'll be able to confirm this when I have time to take it apart.

So i got my chrono back and did some tests yesterday...

I did the tests with my ICS M4 since it's a lot faster and easier to change the spring. And here are the results : avg of 330fps spring installed either way... So installing the spring the right way or the wrong way didn't really change anything.

And what that tells me is that there might be something wrong with my G36c. I'll have to investigate. Didn't have much time to play with it yesterday, so I didn't touch my G36.

If you've never opened a mechbox before, take it to someone with experience.
