Dry firing will always happen regardless, whether you want it to or not.

When a manufacturer states "Avoid dry firing" they're talking about holding the trigger down without BB's f0r 50+ BB's, firing it 6-10 times before you realize your magazine is empty isn't the end of the world.

But don't go super 1337 commando rolling around you house letting off 100 round dry-fire bursts at your cat.

Thanks for quick and abundant responses. Really appreciate it.
But now i have a confession to make. I think i may have half pulled my trigger when i was reinstalling the handguards on my newly acquired AEG out of its box. I heard the winding sound. But when i put in the mag and and pulled to trigger, the only sounds that came from the gun were from the motor in the pistol grip. The motor seems to jiggle once when its pulled and once again when its released (in semi and full auto)
The problem is that since i never shot it before, i dont know if its just that the batteries are dead or I jammed it up when i half pulled it.
But then again, Im guessing i jammed it up since its very unlikely i was sent fully drained batteries. And if the batteries werent fully drained, it would still fire but with minimal force.
Edit: Plus, for the mean time, i cant charge my batteries since i dont have a charger yet. Blarg. Does $36 seem cheap for a charger?

So if it did indeed jam it, what can i do to unjam it (besides firing full auto since that doesnt seem to work)

Anyways though, let me know what you guys think.

as simple as it sounds...wait for your charger, charge your battery fully, point in a safe direction and try again.

With a smart charger you can:
- select the charging amperage
- trickle charge
- discharge/charge cycle (don't need to do this often)
- a dozen other things you'll probably not use

They typically cost a bit more than a "dumb" simple AC/DC converter plug ("dumb chargers" looks like the plug of a cell phone charger and plugs straight into your battery). Most every good smart charger will have a display, different plugs, dials/buttons to select functions, etc...

Dumb chargers are dumb...they just dump power into your battery and you have no way of knowing how discharged/charged it is. You can use a voltmeter to check it though. Or hold it to your skin to feel how hot it's getting (lame)

Sound like a guessing half assed pain in the butt way to go about things? buy a smart charger.

If all that sounds good but you're not an RC guy who knows all this stuff already...you're going to then look at a bunch chargers and say, "WTF?!? which one do I get". There's many others but the B6 Xcharger from Airsoftparts.ca is very good, lots of guys have them, it does all sorts of batteries (and you will eventually use other types). Jugglez is quick on shipping and has a wide selection of batteries too.

If you want an aeg with a decocking button buy a ICS m4; its the only aeg with one.

all it does is make the spring move freely without tension. it has nothing to do with decocked.
