Exclamation newcomer

Hi everyone, I'm a newcomer to airsoft. I have searched and read thru the forum but it seems I didn't find my answers. So here're my questions

1. I bought my gas blow back m4 with smoke tinted lower receiver from a shop and i'm over 18, is this transaction legal?

2. Now I have my lovely m4 (yes!), is it legal for me to shoot targets in my room or backyards? Cuz I don't want to freak out my neighbour and call the cops. The gbb does make some decent sound, and it's a problem, too.

3. The retailer told me he has his own wargame going on, is it legal to join his wargames? He is not from ASC.

Thanks you for helping noob like me and I think this will be useful for other newcomers as awell.

Prelude, POST THIS IN NEWBIE TANK or prepared to be flamed.

1) Yes, even full blacks are, read Memoradium D-19, Criminal Code Section 2, Firearms Act

2) Depends on where you live, fill out your profile, if you live in Cottage, then its probably fine. If you live in nosy neighborhood or a extreme anti-gun community, don't. Our suggestion would still be at a game, basement or garage where its out of view.

3) No clue what you're asking, AFAIK Charter of Rights and Freedom does not forbid you from joining his "wargame" what ever that is, (I'm guessing you're talking skirmishes)

NOTE: ASC is not the LAW, we rule by MORALITY mostly, ASC is not all airsoft in Canada.

I seriously doubt you "read thru the forum" because you wouldn't post in General for newbie stuff.

Wargame is what chinese people call airsofting... The guns are still known as airsoft but the game itself is known as Wargame

example WGC = War Gamer Club

Welcome to the sport!

To get along in this community you need to show that you've at least tried to do a little research before asking a question. People here get resentful about spoonfeeding people and they are vocal about it, meaning you're going to get eaten alive with posts like this.

I recommend you follow Styrak's link and you read posts in the newbie tank first and then ask questions based on what you did not find.

If you're over 18, you'll be welcome at games once you get your equipment, and all the normal elements of good sportsmanship apply at these games such as honest and integrity. Exhibit those characteristics and be respectful to those who's community you're wishing to join, and you will do well.

Well uh, sorry I post it in the general cuz I thought there would be more people in general than noob section. And I did read a lot before I make the post. But the thread talks about law regards to airsoft clearly there's a confusion and seems to me it's not yet decided.

Both, their was a house on the field (which was never breached :-) ) but most of the game was in the fields and the bush. Lots of fun and lots of sun!

Moz_boz....that field ( know as "the farm" ) continues to evolve too. I am building a new fort in the tree line this week out there. It will be about 30 by 24 feet and 8 feet tall in spots.

Not to threadjack, but I would like clarification on this; as far as I can see, Criminal code section 2 is "Offences against public order," 2.1 is "Terrorism" and section 3 is "Firearms and other weapons" but I cannot find any "memoradium" let alone specifically D-19.. the only things pertaining to airsoft guns I see are:

Quote:
Possession at unauthorized place

93. (1) Subject to subsection (3), every person commits an offence who, being the holder of an authorization or a licence under which the person may possess a firearm, a prohibited weapon, a restricted weapon, a prohibited device or prohibited ammunition, possesses the firearm, prohibited weapon, restricted weapon, prohibited device or prohibited ammunition at a place that is
(a) indicated on the authorization or licence as being a place where the person may not possess it;
(b) other than a place indicated on the authorization or licence as being a place where the person may possess it; or
(c) other than a place where it may be possessed under the Firearms Act.
Punishment

(2) Every person who commits an offence under subsection (1)

(a) is guilty of an indictable offence and liable to imprisonment for a term not exceeding five years; or
(b) is guilty of an offence punishable on summary conviction.
Exception

(3) Subsection (1) does not apply to a person who possesses a replica firearm.

R.S., 1985, c. C-46, s. 93; 1991, c. 40, s. 8; 1995, c. 39, s. 139; 2008, c. 6, s. 6.
and

Quote:
Certain weapons deemed not to be firearms

(3) For the purposes of sections 91 to 95, 99 to 101, 103 to 107 and 117.03 of this Act and the provisions of the Firearms Act, the following weapons are deemed not to be firearms:

(a) any antique firearm;
(b) any device that is
(i) designed exclusively for signalling, for notifying of distress, for firing blank cartridges or for firing stud cartridges, explosive-driven rivets or other industrial projectiles, and

(ii) intended by the person in possession of it to be used exclusively for the purpose for which it is designed;

(c) any shooting device that is
(i) designed exclusively for the slaughtering of domestic animals, the tranquillizing of animals or the discharging of projectiles with lines attached to them, and

(ii) intended by the person in possession of it to be used exclusively for the purpose for which it is designed; and

(d) any other barrelled weapon, where it is proved that the weapon is not designed or adapted to discharge
(i) a shot, bullet or other projectile at a muzzle velocity exceeding 152.4 m per second or at a muzzle energy exceeding 5.7 Joules, or

(ii) a shot, bullet or other projectile that is designed or adapted to attain a velocity exceeding 152.4 m per second or an energy exceeding 5.7 Joules.
