But what would have happened if during one of these stealth kills the guy getting killed reacts without thinking grabs the guys arm and throws him over his shoulder resulting in the guy with the knife possibly getting injured or vice versa. It's a fine line you have to walk and if your intending to do so I suggest you ask all participants if they are comfortable with it.

Am I the only one that see's this as a potential problem?
No I see it as a potential problem too, if someone whacked me with a sword I'd be tempted to pop them in the jaw.

Here's the problem with a sword:

Kinetic Energy.

Rubber Knives can hurt if there is enough momentum from the attacker and/or the victim.

A rubber sword will have a fair amount of weight to it, and therefore, if swung, will hurt and/or be able to remove the goggles of victim.

Anything which can remove someones eye wear is a hazard and should be weighed heavily against by the organizer.

Personally, the only advantage I'd see with having a sword is length of the weapon, which is a pro heavily outweighed by the cons of having to carry it, inability to draw from close quarters, potential for injury of both parties, and the fact that more often then not it's easier to just shoot the guy.

Having said this, I'll always have a rubber knife on me, because when the opportunity to kill 5 guys with their backs to you arises, it's really fun.

God, that kid was a joke. Looked at his site the other day, still nothing but trolls.

Either way, i think i'd rather go without knives in gameplay. They're cool if you're capable of getting kills with it, but even then its slim as hell.

Agreed,

To me a knife is almost a must, and you dont need to stab or anything, just tap with it, just like you would your hand. I have to say from especilly my paintball days and my few airsoft days you get more then enouph knife kill chances to warrent a $15 rubber knife

I assume it differs per field but would hard plastic be acceptable to use in a game? Im thinking a light tap with the side of a blade or similar.

Just got a 1918 rubber trench knife and first day out tapped a guy running around a tree. He wasn't impressed.

Definitely worth the purchase.

Throat slashes are for people trying to be fancy. In the arm, leg, back, across the chest, the foot anywhere else is a legitimate kill area. A melee kill in airsoft is if you can pretty much touch a person with your hand. Using a rubber knife for a melee kill adds another element, but that element does not require all the variables that would come with that of a real knife. In my mind a tag is a tag, you dont have to poke someone in the jugular with your rubber knife for it to be legitimate.

I like it, I can use it to swat BBs and people.
Agreed. I remember clearly during a few games at a CQB place in Montreal where I crept up behind a guy and touched his shoulder and said mercy quietly.

However I also remember a time when a friend of mine grabbed my shoulder out of no where on the street in an attempt to be funny and he ended up getting his ass thrown to the ground because I was a douche and over reacted, I felt horrible because of it but thankfully he was ok save for a few scuffs and a bruised ego but it could have been much worse.

So I can see both sides but Im unsure as to what the best course of action. I guess Im more interested in understanding others view points as when I was still playing back in the day no one I knew used rubber knives (that I can remember anyway).

Cheers.

You know at the time that he was posting I was still not sure if I was going to return to the fold so I stayed in Lurk mode, but god that was some crazy shit. Glad to see their website imploded under the weight of its fail.
