are ICS truly Li-Po ready?
I have an ICS I changed out my piston and soon i will change out my spring, is my ICS still lipo ready? that you-tube video of them shooting one with a lipo is cool and all but is it real or a gimmick?

Lipo will burn your trigger contacts and the metal on your selector plate... I beefed mine up by tinning it with silver bearing, lead free solder since I burnt mine with an 11.1 Lipo... :P

Food for thought...
In retrospec... that technology was developped around a 7,2 volt battery...
then we all jumped on the 8,4v.... 9,6v.... band wagon 10,8v was forgoten 12,0volts was ludicrous... no one dared! So now 11,1volts... to match weird battery configs!!! If you do the math... that is a 153% on a gearbox that is already marginal! So figure the odds.... the gearbox being the weakest link... that you will end up with grinded metal! cheers Pete

You can't compare LiPo batteries to NiMH batteries strictly by voltage, LiPo gives you 100% amperage whereas NiMH batteries do not.
And if you guys read the thread, it very highly recommends never hooking a LiPo straight up to an AEG. You REALLY should use a MOSFET and fuse at the very least Furthermore, some SW-COMPs have motor speed control, which allows you to use an 11.1v LiPo at a much lower rate of fire. These are the numbers I got out of trying different batteries: 11.1v 20C 4900mah LiPo (AT 70% MOTOR SPEED)- 1052rpm (~1500rpm at 100% motor speed) 9.6v 4200mah NiMH - 1212rpm 7.4v 20C 1600mah LiPo - 910rpm 9.6v 1600mah NiMH - 1066rpm |

his is why I use a twin pack of 750mha nicad! even if the rating is 1500mha I get full amps and at 50% drain the pack lasts the whole day! Cheers Pete Quote:

Lipo ready? Lots of guns are Lipo ready, even the JG ones that shoots 400 fps OOB that sells for a hundred CAD in my country is Lipo ready now whether they will break down after a few thousand shots is highly dependent on the individual gun and its quality.
That being said though you have to understand what a Lipo first before even thinking of going there. Read more about its safety requirements and its effects on the gun. And yeah they burn contacts so make yourself a mosfet circuit. Turning your gun into a grass cutter is doable but you gotta make some adjustments. |
